Another week is almost over and I wanted to wish all those that are in pain to cheer up. Every week that goes by and it may only be a tiny improvement you are still getting better. It could always be worse and when your miserable and the pain in your knee is driving you nuts just keep in mind some would like to be in your shoes instead of their own. Hopefully no one is going to hurt and for those that have therapy today it will go well ?? Well maybe things may not work out like we want but really I hope everyone has a great day !!!

Good morning and the sun is finally shining. WooHoo! Next Friday I have my 12 week follow up and a tiny bit anxious but only tiny bit. Perfectly straight but struggling to get past 115 ROM. He was pretty insistent that I must be at 120 minimum. Working on it. Able to walk 5 stair steps almost normally so I think I am doing okay. Fortunately absolutely no pain unless I overdo exercise and then Advil and ice handle it. Have an awesome day and remember to celebrate the small victories

I agree and thank you. I’m 8 weeks post op after what I can only describe as an ‘ordeal’ Thought I’d never improve. Gradually seeing an improvement daily but do have setback days. Been discharged by physio today as I have full extension and strength, also 125 degree bend which is the best they expect for a replacement knee. Still in constant pain and low energy levels but giving myself tasks each day to complete. Head in a better place so hang on in there it will get better

Excellent results!!! I am so sorry you’re still in pain! Hard to find energy when you’re hurting. I found that eating right and staying hydrated really helped while I was on pain meds.  Be good to yourself and let others help when you need them. Just remember you’re better than you were but not as great as you will be. You can go this!!

I still have little appetite and do try to eat and drink healthily. I’ve lost 14 pounds and still coming off. Im a UK 12 ( US 8) which I haven’t been for a fair few years. I feel hungry, have a few mouthfuls then I’m done. Hopefully my appetite will return to its normal greedy self. Lots of fruit, yogurts, vegetables and water.

I am from the US so pardon my ignorance but what is a stone?? I think of a stone as a rock I am clueless??

Its equivalent to 14 pounds in the US. Divided by a common language

A Stone is Imperial weight. 14lb. Can’t think what it is in kg, but your computer will tell you far better than I can! No rocks involved, unless gem stones!

Please follow all the instructions even when it’s hard and start therapy right away

Sometimes they wait a week before you start therapy. I know right after the surgery depending on the time you get done. Once your settled in your room here comes therapy and all you have to do is get out of bed and walk to the door and come back. Looks real easy there have been times it hurt so much tears were flowing. So once you get home it take about a week for the nurses.I do agree even though it hurts a great deal the sooner you start your exercises the sooner you will recover and I also agree is it painful yes.

Well I did wish everyone a pain free day apparently I never got the message !! Have not done much and my knee is very warm and a tad bigger then a grapefruit. Fun fun.

Hope your ready for the journey ?? Keep in mind it is going to take months before your feeling like yourself again. There is no really nice way to put but once your home and the meds from the hospital wear off it is going to hurt not a little either. Make sure you take your pain meds as directed so you can stay on top of the pain and make sure you ice your knee frequently. I sure you will do well. Good Luck.

Hi nwf! Thanks for writing. Yesterday afternoon, I went downstairs to the main lounge here in Retirement Housing and played Scrabble. I won! Made a change from my own teeny room anyway. Yesterday and today I’ve been walking right foot, left foot, normal fashion. I get satisfaction from this and practice makes perfect, so they say. I never meet anyone in the long corridor. Feel very sleepy though and been using ice packs. I see Physio on Wednesday. Dreading that, but will see the lady I made friends with from the bed next to mine.

I’m pleased that you’re feeling brighter than yesterday. You’ve done so well. Have a nice evening MM 🙃

It nice to read your doing better but we all have our days. You may be older and wiser but I have had more fun with my L knee then you have had with yours. Trying to be silly today is a good day the weather is nice and comfortable have the windows open getting fresh air inside. Only bad thing cut my grass 2 days ago and it rained yesterday so now it looks like I have to cut it again tomorrow since My mother and my daughter are going to our cottage for 2 weeks. Here the weather is in the 70's our cottage is very near the Canadian border. Tomorrow they are calling for a frozen mix on Monday slight chance of snow in the morning. The lows up there are still in the 30's. We are leaving bright and early Monday and will be back on the 12th then on the 15th I get to find out about my knee.
