From 50mg to 75mg

Hi.

I have been taking sertraline for 5 weeks. 25mg for the first week and then 50 for the last 4 weeks. I am due a telephone appointment with my doctor and am presuming he will up my dose. If he does I think i will up it to 75mg as maybe this will lesson any side effects. I dont want to increase too quickly for obvious reasons. I am feeling alot better but i still am not myself ie..i can't go out except short distances in the car and the thought of going into a supermarket sends me into a blind panic.

I wondered how other people have felt on 75mg and whether it has made a dramatic difference from

    Hi Hoopz

I started on 50mg for 3 weeks and have now been on 100mg for 3 weeks , I was swapped from Citalopran as it stopped working for me , the Sertraline side effects have not been anywhere near as bad at the Cit was , I’ve had nausea, troubles getting to sleep , a little bit of muscle twitches and not a great appetite my anxiety has came down a lot which is great but seems to have uncovered pretty horrible depression, I to can’t leave the house most days if I do it’s a short walk but lost confidence driving or seeing people.

On a positive the anxiety decrease has been great so keep going .

I have an appointment with a psychiatrist on Thursday who will assess me , maybe up my dose and set out a plan for me so his team can support me , I am taking Diazipan when my crying is manic to calm me down , it’s a tough time for lots of us but if anxiety is your main problem the Sertraline will definitely help you.

    Take care

I went from 50mg - 100mg. When I upped my dose some of the sides returned, however, for me it was only for a short time. I sometimes think I should have asked for anti-sickness pills. I find the messages from my body to mind are suppressed so I don’t feel hungry I fell ill. When I eat the sickness feeling subsides. I’ve started eating chocolate again - now need to see dentist 😁. Have a good day

After having a bad nights sleep and waking up with anxiety and palpitations I phoned my doctors. He has increased my sert from 50 mg to 100mg. I asked if i should take 75mg for a couple of weeks but he said i should be ok with 100mg. Any input please from you fellow sufferers as i dont know what to do. Ps done 1 week on 25mg and then 5 weeks on 50mg

      Hi Hoopz

I did 75mg for a week then went to the 100mg which I’ve been on for 3 weeks now , anxiety is much lower although still can’t leave the house , I’ve become really depressed, crying a lot , don’t know if it’s a side effect or if I had depression anyway and the breakdown started with anxiety, I see a psychiatrist tomorrow who will hopefully set a plan for me with his team .

Do a week on 75 then go up

Thanks Matt Im going to do the 75mg for a week and see how i go. I was feeling alot better last week but im not good this week although I'm better in the evenings . What's frightening is that any exertion ..and I dont mean exercise...i mean sometimes merely going up the stairs ..results in an anxiety attack and bad palpitations..its horrible and my heart rate goes up to 107. When i calm down it goes down to 71 or something. I measure this on my Samsung health app and i know its not 100% accurate but it gives me a little peace of mind when it goes down.

      Good luck in your fight.
