Front thigh pain after Hip Replacement Surgery

Posted , 6 users are following.

I have had losing in the front and sometimes side of my thigh since my surgery last February 2016.

Now I am seeing a Neurologist for nerve testing.

Has anyone had pain for this long?

Did it go away and if so ho, or what did your Doctors find?

    Hi

I had my first THR (right hip) in Nov 2010 and my left hip replaced in 2016. I have a numbness in my right thigh follwing surgery, no one has been able to explain why.

It's been 13 months since my THP and I am still in pain. But, I fell down the stairs during my re-coop time. I was x-rayed by 2 different doctors who told me that nothing was wrong. So, why the pain. I have just given into the fact that I am going to be in pain for the rest of my life.

    Hi Jean

I had my hip replacement January 2016. I am still in pain but it's in my foot making it difficult to walk.

Ive had a nerve conduction test and it's shown I have damaged nerves in my foot.  The doctors just tell me there's nothing that can be done.  I've tried podiatry, chiropractice, acupuncture and now I'm paying private for the second physiotherapist.  At first the hospital told me it was plantar fasciitis, which I knew it wasn't because I've had it before.  Then I was told it was from my tibial nerve and now they say it's from my hip.

At the moment the physio is working on my spine.  It's just trial and error.  I am a rambler and want to get back into my walking if it's possible.

    All the best Brenda C

Hi Jeannie. I too am having pain in front and side of thigh. I had trhr July 18, 2016. 3 weeks later I find out I dislocated the new hip 2 days later I'm having a total hip revision. 6 weeks non weight bearing, no hip flexion past 80 degrees and no hip exercises. Since I started weight bearing again I started having all kinds of stuff going on. Dr diagnosed me with bursitis and tendonitis. 6 months physical therapy. For past 3 or 4 months now the thigh started to bother me it got to the point where anything that touched my thigh was awful. I can't wear leggings as that is so bothersome!! The therapist told me that there is a rather large nerve that's under the thigh muscle. Dr prescribed gabapentin. It seemed to help some. I was also using Aspercream. But lately it just got to be so intense I called dr and he prescribed voltaren gel. That's helping but I just want that to be gone already!!! I want to feel better already!!! I'm almost 8 months in now. Please let us know what they tell you. I'm wondering if I need to see someone about this problem too. Wishing you all the best! Hugs 🤗 LD
