I have had this frozen shoulder for nearly 2 yrs and i have not experienced pain like it , it has affected my everydaylife, from combing my hair to putting on my clothes, to driving my car , it makes me so miserable, i have doctors today for a steriod injection i am hoping and praying that it gives me some comfort . Sleeping is a massive problem waking in pain several times a night, it has made me feel a little better to know that I am not the only person with this complaint, so sorry for everyone who is suffering from this. I will let you all know how this injection works for me fingers crossed.

Oh Mandy.....that's a long time for a frozen shoulder. Are you sure it's not something else. I thought mine was a frozen shoulder, I have had it for 3 months, range was getting worse, pain was getting worse.....nights were terrible. I finally went to a specialist who did an ultra sound.....it's a full thickness tear in the Supraspinatus tendon......not a frozen shoulder at all. I'm booked for surgery on 10th APRIL.....wish it was sooner, but that was the earliest I could get. It will be a loooong 6 weeks in a sling after day surgery and I believe a slow recivery. But so long as the constant toothache like pain is gone I won't mind.

Mandy I had 2 steroid injections over 3 months, did absolutely nothing for me, should of guessed then it was something else

    good luck.....hope you get relief

    morning mandy

oh gawd i know exactly what your going through, i first went to see the gp about this painful condition jan 2013, had steroid injection which after 3/4 days worked a treat BLISS!!!! but 6/7 weeks later pain came back, back to gp who refered me to hospital, so another wait for appointment, in mean time was on cocodamol 30/500, and amatrylptaline (which doesnt agree with me), the pain meds just dont work, ive been up at nights sat on edge of bed sobbing through the pain wanting to saw my arm off, eventually hosp app came through for x rays /scans, they showed def calcification tenenitis and arthritis, so back to gp make another appointment for hospital! waited til sept 2014 for the first doctor who refered me for physio and of course it wouldnt work i got calcification,,, so physio said i need surgery,,, and yeah back to gp to make another hosp appointment to see ortho doc that was nov 2014, and im still waiting!!!!!!! the gp has given me 4 injections over the time its the only thing that works for the pain, but its 6 weeks since the last injection and i can feel the pain creeping back ,,, its making my life unbearable, and the wait of over 2 years to sort it is unbelievable... i hope your injection gives you some relief, it does me for approx 6 weeks, good luck, xx

Hiya Mandy Unfortunatly i'm not a bearer of good news, i started out with frozen shoulder 2 1/2 years ago, i too had the steroid injection to start with but that never worked for me. Last year  i was referred to hospital to undergo shoulder manipulation under anesthesia. This worked great but after the op i wasn't referred to physio and 2 month later my shoulder started freezing up again. The consultant i saw lately referred me back to physio telling me he wanted me to try that for 3 months before deciding wether to manipulate again. Physio then referred me to a weekly shoulder class where we do various excercises when 3 month was up i went back to the consultant hoping he would refer me to get my shoulder manipulated again but he never because he saw a little improvement and referred me back to physio who sent me back to shoulder class. I have a month now to wait to see the consultant again and if i still have any sign of FS i hope he will send me to have my shoulder manipulated again because this has gone on for too long for me now. On a good note though to help with  getting some movement back i have found the shoulder class at Doncaster Royal infirmary to be a great help but also I found that spending time at the local swimming pool helps with some excercises, somehow being underwater gives you more movement with your joints which in turn helps with the recovery period. My wife has a friend who had FS after 4 years with no physio or medical help it all of a sudden went away for som people this can happen sooner  but also take loonger too so if the injection doesn't help see about MUA(manipulation under anesthesia) but get referred to physio after having this done if you need to have this done

I feel your pain, literally! Had frozen left shoulder (I'm left handed) since Juneish last year. Took ages for my gp to do anything about it. He kept saying take pain killers! He's clearly never experienced it! Pain killers really hardly touch the pain and I'm on 30/500 co-codamol. I'm a teaching assistant in a primary school and teach dance to all year groups so work has been a nightmare. I had a cortisone injection in October which did nothing (sorry!) but I do know people it has worked for, even if only for a short time (any relief is better than nothing!) I'm now 6 weeks post Hydrodilation. Pain is slightly reduced and my ROM has improved a little (I can actually touch the top of my head!) but it is still not great. Not sure how much longer I can stand it. Also I have started to feel similar pain now in my right shoulder, no loss of movement as yet but those shooting pain down my arm and a constant ache. I think I'll fall apart if my right shoulder goes too.

I really hope your injection works. I'll keep my fingers crossed for you!!

Hi Mandy!  Hope it worked for you!  I have had FS for a year now.  Both shoulders have frozen up now.  I have 2 cortisone shots in the right and one in the left.  No luck. I had pt for a month. No luck.  I now go weekly to an awesome massage therapist.  He is very educated in FS.  I am his first case.  The pain is dreadful, but I do feel better after , sometimes for several days.  My surgeon told me to crawl walk the walls with my hands and hold it for several seconds10 times a day.  It is so depressing and painful.  I go to bed in pain, awake several times in pain/stiffness and wake with pain. And I am in pain all day long.  I take ibuprofen once or twice a day.  Vicodin when it gets real bad.  Both upset my stomach.  Hate this sooooo much!

I hate this I get so tearful because I can't see an end to this problem , the injection has done nothing so far it's now been 18 hours I think I need surgery but how long will I have to wait NHS it makes me so miserable to think about it . I didn't realize how many people suffer from fs I have not heard of it before and I have been suffering for over 2 years I will give the exercise u recommend a try . I will look for a physio who can help me . Have u tried acupuncture ?

no i've not tried accupuncture but i suppose anything is worth a try I was also thinking on looking into information about going private and if doing so would get things sorted a bit quicker.

Hi Mandy, seems we all have to live with this problem. I have decided to do more exercise, specifically rowing. Hopefully this will help to relieve the pain over the time.
