Frozen shoulder going away

Posted , 5 users are following.

I had symptoms start in April of 2016. By July I could I had it in both shoulders and could not sleep. I tried chiropractors and did not help. I started getting a massage once a week and in a couple weeks the pain started going away. Still had limited mobility but was able to sleep. After going for 3 months a lot of mobility is back and am only going once a month now. I recommend the massage and no surgery.

Hi, I don’t know your exact situation but I’m doubtful that you had FS, a massage every week is not going to fix FS and it’s just going to prolong the pain as it continues to get worse.

I’m glad whatever you had got fixed my massage but FS, I don’t think so.

It has been over 9 months since my shoulders have been painful and limited mobility.  It was frozen shoulder and the massage has not fixed it but it helped with the pain and time is getting my mobility back. I think surgery just makes a lot of issues worse. If suggesting a massage helps than I think it is worth a try. Rather than spending thousands on doctors and pain meds.

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for the info. I'm going to try massage now that my pain has subsided. My FS (right shoulder) started in June after I fell off my daughters Hoover Board (boy was that dumb getting on it). Pain was excruciating for a solid six months, but has gotten slightly better in the last month. Feel like I've entered stage 2. I've been doing Phototherapy shots every month since Sept., and I think its helped a bit. No more pain to the point of tears. Very little throbbing. Thank God!  Its just still pretty sore and still can't move behind my back or above my head. Really hoping massage will help with my ROM, which has not improved at all.

I really think massage has helped. I can reach over my head now and can touch fingers behind just this last month. Still can't undo bra from behind but I can tell I will get back to normal now after a lot of aggravation for not being able to do anything for a while. Good luck and give it a try.

Had FS decades ago. Doctor administered injection - not advised content. This had no effect. Suffered much incapacitating agonising pain so off work for weeks. I suspected a form of RSI from long distance driving and successfully self treated as such. Takes a little while days or weeks depending on severity and treatment.

Suggest anyone with FS try this first. Hope this helps.

    Hi Lisa

What type of massage did you have?

    Thanks

Sorry it's been a few days. I got a deep tissue massage and she focused on my shoulders and shoulder blades. There was also some work done on my chest muscles on certain weeks. She would ask where the most pain was and focus on that area for the week. She also did research on frozen shoulder and learned what areas to work.  Sometimes during the massage it would hurt but after I would feel so much better, would have some range of motion difference and my husband could tell I was feeling better. Hope this helps you it really has helped me

Relaxation worked for me, but it needs to be borne in mind constantly. You could also try muscle relaxant medication. No need for massage once a week necessary only if it helps with the relaxation, no invasive operations, no chiropractor etc. I was in agony and off work being virtually immobile. Following the relaxation method I was back to normal work in a week.

Thanks. I totally agree on no surgery. I am definitely going to try the relaxation. Some issue is I have full custody of my 3 year old grandson and we just got him a puppy, a little hard to relax. I have stopped the weekly massage and still plan to go about every 6 weeks. It definitely does help with relaxation. I have noticed it gets worse with stress so the relaxation should for sure help. Thanks for the suggestion and I will be doing that.
