Frozen Shoulder Niel-Asher Technique

I've dealt with this for so long I don't remember when it began but as it progressed, I started researching. I've always opted for non-traditional care as it's worked for me. I've found an incredibly quick release of the debilitating state I was in when I found the Niels Asher Technique. There are only 2 chiropractors who use this technique where I live. One I was less than impressed with over the phone - I wasn't convinced he had much experience. I chose the other chiro - 2 1/2 hour drive from my home. Within 3 round trips, my range of motion improved dramatically. I still have the ROM, but the pain has changed, or moved - I hate to have an MRI done, but with all the bizarre cancers in my family, very uncharacteristically, have scheduled an MRI. My question to post to the group here is whether or not the sharp pain the arm changes position? For months on end, the pain was in the same place, mid point on the upper arm, outer side. Now this pain is just above my bicep and very painful. Because I had such good results, I worry about the possibility of a tumor in the shoulder girdle, which mimcs exactly the symptoms of frozen shoulder. Has anybody else felt the need to have an MRI done to be certain there is not another condition? Feeling rather concerned lately.

If you need an explanation for how to stop muscle spasms in your neck or back etc., this is the single best explanation I've ever seen in my life. I use myofascial release balls or a Theracane or a tennis ball although it can be al little too hard for me ... And this website. http://www.pressurepointer.com/PressurePointerManual.pdf

Thanks Terry,  About 2 months ago I was at my sons & he has the trigger pointer.  He used it on me & I felt a little relief the next day.  Last night I was putting pressure with my finger on the knots in my neck & today my pain is substantially decreased.  I can't reach the knots in my back, so I think I should get the pointer

Thee important thing is to use the website instructions for wherever you hurt and immediately do the specific stretches for that group and all groups of muscles that are spasming according to the website illustrations and instructions. After 6 or more months of muscle spasms then doing what he website said todofor about 10 days straight all my spasms stopped and have not come back. The longer you let the spasms go on the harder it is to get them to stop because of muscle memory. Good luck!

Hi Mema, yes, I noticed that I had responded to Pleach in answer to your question after I had sent it. I'm sorry about that. Glad you got your answer. Good luck with the tennis ball if you try it. smile

Hilary I have another concern. Maybe you or someone else has had it also. As I get physio for my left frozen shoulder, and continue to faithfully do home exercises(one is the pulley) My right shoulder is beginning to hurt also. It was frozen 2 1/2 yrs ago. Is is because I'm working it along the the left shoulder or could it turn into frozen shoulder again?

Hi Mema Again, re your second shoulder, maybe it would be a good idea to go back to your family doctor and have a chat with them about how your 'good' arm is now getting sore. This is a concern because you absolutely reply on that good arm to function, and it is not to live with the serious worry of fearing that your good shoulder may be compromised and at risk of injury or another frozen shoulder. From what I have read, it is rare for a shoulder to freeze a second time, but it is possible. My 'good' shoulder and in fact the arm and neck as well started to get all sorts of pain and I had an X-ray and ultrasound which showed subacromial bursa problems. I was feeling really sore and weak in that good arm and was pretty freaked out that It might get worse. This was from overuse and I really had to step back and slow down. I still exercise it, but gently and I don't push the injury. The amount of compensation and imbalance that I have experiences across the whole of the top of my body is huge, and I have had to completely adjust my life to keep going. This journey seems to be about adjusting constantly to the new day and what our capability is for that day or that week. So if you have pain in the one good arm that you really need to feel strong and to able to do your daily activities, then I would encourage you to do what it takes to get properly assessed and with your practitioners advice, to do what feels really feels right for your body and mind so that you can keep going forwards physically and emotionally in your journey rather than backwards. smile

Thanks Hilary, also my neck also hurts, but that isn't something new. Seems my fibromyalgia is at full steam, probably stress has caused it to flare up again. On a good point I am taking Termeric powder in a 1/2 glass of warm water & sugar everyday , in place of meds, for inflamation and It has helped. A friend just gave me termeric capsules (taste of termeric is very strong in the milk) and I notice it had black pepper in it also. The black pepper helps the absorption of the termeric. So I'm going to stick with the capsules. While researching termeric there was mention of it helping to prevent Alzheimers because it starts with an inflammation of the brain??? According to my neurologist because my dad & Grandpa both had Alzheimer & I also had radiation of the brain I have a chance (don't want to even think %) of getting it. I am determined not to, so maybe termeric for the rest of my life is a gift I have just received from God!

Ha! I have been craving curry like nobody's business.... I wonder if it is the tumeric! I also make a cup of hot water with a pinch of tumeric, ginger powder, cinnamon and honey. smile

Hi all - it's great to have a forum like this. My FS (not yet diagnosed but I'm pretty convinced that's what I've got) started a couple of months ago, following a fractured shoulder.  I've been researching thoroughly and feel hopeful that Neil Asher Therapy might help.  To my amazement, I found a practitioner in the same post code as me (London E5).  I'll keep you posted on my progress.  For all the ills of the internet, it is amazing to be able to connect with so many other people suffering this awful condition - sleepless nights etc.  It helps to come to terms.  Good luck everyone

Hi, I have had this 4 months. Having physio but its not helping. Did the Neil Asher therapy work for you.

Hi carol. Funny thing is I went to a NA therapist but she said she wanted to give me craniodacral treatment for trauma. (My FS started after a fracture from a fall). The cranio seems to have helped me a fair bit. (I've had 3 sessions). But I've asked my therapist about doing NA on me and she's a bit evasive. I'm not sure she herself is particularly committed to NA technique and is talking about coming off the NA website now. So I'm afraid I can't enlighten you about Neil Asher. Sorry can't before helpful and good luck.

Thanks for replying. Glad its working for you. Wish I could find something to work. Going to see what a chiropractor can do for me that specialises in this. Will let you know how I get on

Hi Carol, as part of a long journey of trying every therapy I could find, I bought the Neil Asher book and showed it to a rehab massage therapist who was happy to try the technique on my arm and shoulder. As the Neil Asher site says, they encourage anyone to try their technique using thee book and videos as a reference. I had three treatments which were really painful and although they did help in then hart term, they really didn't make any difference or give me any significant improvement in range of movement or pain relief over time. I'm sure that the techniques work for some people, they just didn't give me the stunning results I hoped for. Best of luck trying it though. You never know what might work for you until you try it. smile
