Frustrated

Hi all,
I am 8 weeks following a THR UK, and starting to feel frustrated with my progress.
I can get around with 2 sticks, walk the dog, drive and do housework.
I am due back at work in 4 weeks ( NHS ) but feel so slow , I am only 56 and although no pain from new hip I do have a fair bit in the other.
I want to be able to pick things up from the floor, get things out of the lower fridge, oven, cupboards cut the grass etc but feel I cant get down too low. Physio isnt much help answering my questions a bit vague.
Will I be able to bend and pick things up without using grabber?
Will I be able to kneel on the ground and weed the garden?
Starting to feel like I should have waited longer to get my hip done and the other one ??
sorry but feeling low today

hi again . I've seen you're question re sock aid. ic you're def going to need to wear them I'd get one. I got one off that well known delivery website. mine is a plastic card type thing with ribbon attachments to pull. it was quite cheap but does the trick . I used it more pre OP than post as it's been to hot for socks but it worked well enough for me.
ivs also noted you're a midwife I'm a retired ANP even with a phased return I'm sure as you are atm theres no way theyd allow you to return to work. I'm sure you'll find you'll get 3xtra physio once occy health get some input. if I was you I'd contact your manager and see what help they can sort for you .

i am your age and it took me a while, the main thing that improved my strength was private physio with pilates machines to create and build resistance. i am only fully off crutches at 5 months as i wanted to avoid a limp. laced shoes still a challenge, and I use a sock device as I don't want to dislocate my hip. it is a much slower recovery than I expected and I hear other people saying but no limp! I have had to have patience and persistence with the exercises and life, you will be able to do it, keep up the good work.

thank you, I may go back to crutches for my longer walks as I find sticks uncomfortable to use and dont help as much .

Do not become frustrated but understand that all of that advice is there for a reason. You can find ways of following that advice for a reason, by noticing that each day there is improvement and eventually one day you will magically be able to do these things. It took forever for your hip becoming damaged and it takes awhile for everything to heal. I had many problems after mine but now it is a pleasure to do things that seemed so far off. patience is needed and it does get better and if you do the right thing you wont know how different life will be.
