frustrated by dr's!!

Hi there. So i was recently diagnosed, and after hearing the diagnosis everything made complete sense ( my symptoms ) then i have a follow up with a different dr today, and she says she's not convinced 100%. So now she wants to too x- rays of my neck and shoulder to rule out arthritis due to constant neck tension. I'm sooooo frustrated. This day started so hectic, was running late after having to drive my son to school, so i forgot my daily journal ( to keep track of symptoms) I'm 100% sure it's FM, and so was the last dr. Sorry, just needed to vent ! Had anyone else been diagnosed then had them say they aren't sure ? I'm so angry because i was expecting to discuss managing the FM, not doing more tests... sigh sad

Hi Emily, I'm with Kaz40 100%. A rheumatologist is best to diagnose FM and I too have all 18 trigger points. As well as FM I have osteoarthritis, cervical and lumbar degenerative disc disease, hypothyroid, high bp and cholestrol, CFS/me, tendinosis  and connective tissue disease.  So you can always have more than 1 diagnosis but it's good that you are having further scans/x rays as this is the only way you can get a definite answer. Have a good day x

Hi Emily;  it actually sounds the "other way around for all of us"...most of us had to have "all of tests....X-Rays, MRI; multitude of Blood Tests etc"...trialing of many drugs, and then our own Research, to tell our drs that "I have Fibro....etc"...have the x-rays, as you may  have some arthrites as well: I do, and so do others, and by treating the Arthrites, it can alleviate some of your pains....and treat the Symptoms of Fibro with the necessary treatments for it.....how about that....does it make sense?  Bron

Hi Emily, what are your classic Fibro symptoms? I feel it's is good that your doctor is going to give you a cervical MRI as although I have severe fibro, my rheumatologist found I have 4 degenerative discs and therefore my physio had to be very careful with my treatment. I was also given medication for nerve pain as well as for the crunching and cracking of my neck and also lumbar spine. I hope you don't have to wait too long for your scan and are given the best pain relief for your condition. May I ask you what symptoms you have?

Hi Tiff and othrs;   I read re your Numbness/tingling/pins and needles.....I have this in my (usually) lower limbs, and find that by wearing Supportive stockings  ...in your case, supportive gloves that go upto elbows, or buying some Tubigrip from chemist/physio, will do same job.....they are made for increased Circulation, and although it's not documented that we have poor circulation, I know that this really helps me....if you buy some Tubigrip, make a Type of glove, with a small cut-out for thumb....don't get the size recommended for forearm, but next size up, as they seem to think our limbs are smaller than they really are...and then too constricting.....I also find Tubigrip also helps when my limbs have that "heavy, aching sensation".....have found this to be a Very Good investment, and my docs all agree, this is a good idea....try some, as not too epensive (the Tubi-grip.....you can buy it by the metre/whole box, and cut off what you need, and  hen replace when starts to wear out)...I wash mine in my "bra bag to protect it"..........hoping you try this?   Bron

Hi Tiff, I have same in right and left hands, right is the worst. I'm having nerve induction tests done to check for Carpal Tunnel and Double Crush Syndrome. It may be worth speaking to your doctor about it, if it's Carpal Tunnel it's easily put right, no point in suffering unnecessarily lol

Well, by "bandaging from head to toe" will certainly get people to not ask "what's wrong  you, look ok to me".....we should ALL do same.....yes, I also have a back brace, as really need same in order to do any serious walking outside the house/shops etc......really stuffed up Tuesday night by not wearing same, when taking hubby back to plane, and driving home, Could NOT do anything Wednesday...my back was in what I call Excruiating pain....was a Real invalid that day...only ever  been that bad once before, when I thought I was a Young girl back on the property, and tried to move a Trailer on my own....WOW, did I learn pain that day too....anyways, back to being just NORMAL now....let us know how the "bandaging" goes, and if anyone feels sorry for you then???  Harolleyes....Bron

Hi Kaz;  you should see me getting ready for bed....neck brace, support stockings, and now the brace for my jaw...which now have to wear All the time....told Specialist "I couldn't talk with it in"...his reply "that's the idea"....so hence, less phone calls, and more txts and emails...now that can be annoying for others, and me, as I always like to talk....somtimes when they don't want me to put my foot in it (my mouth)..... do get myself into too much trouble at times, when I say what they don't want to hear...... and that's a "haha"...........rolleyes  Bron
