Hi. I am 10 weeks post op now. Anterior and posterior repair,TVH and sacrospinous fixation. Textbook recovery. Saw doc 3 weeks ago and given the all clear.
I am an active healthy 50 yo. I have been to a specialist physio for exercise advice. So life is begging to get back to a sort of normal.
I know 10 weeks is still relatively early in the healing, internal stitches will start be there. But although I have been lucky and not put on weight I still can’t stand wearing normal clothes. Belly is flat in the mornings but I look 6 months by bedtime. I also find seams in trousers and knickers irritating down below. Waistbands too restrictive. Much more comfortable in elastic 😬.
In the evening I find it hard to sit comfortablely, feeling a pull or tug unless I’m lying flat.
I also feel the muscles (?I think) or flesh that runs front to back along vagina inside inner labia are soft and relaxed on a morning but feel more solid in the evening (I’m assume swelling).
Check myself about 10 times a day to check for any change ie bulging. In other words still panicking that it might fail.
Have ladies further into recovery had the same experiences. If so when did you start to feel normal and not conscious you are in recovery every hour of the day.

Hi Ange
I'm 14 wks today and still have stitches coming away😕 they must be the internal ones which I can't believe are still there.
I still have a full feeling down below but I have learnt not to look with mirror like before.. I got so obsessed I worried myself half to death..
I have to use a natural organic vaginal moisturiser around vulva and entrance which does help.. I was told i d have dryness because of no uterus so I started using it to prevent anything.
I have an appointment next Monday for an examination and will go through my vagina w i th a fine tooth comb so I know what I see and feel is normal. I have my camera ready lol. It's so hard this recovery😢😢😢

I am 4 weeks after anterior repair and have all of the issues that you describe.
I had posterior repair 7 months ago and had all of these in weeks following this surgery also. Like you I have a tension that builds up as the day progresses around the entrance to vagina. I also feel a soreness around the urethra area. I have found that extra virgin organic coconut oil is really helpful around these areas and sitting in a warm sitz bath for a few minutes a few times a day. It's really reassuring to know others have same issues. The anxiety that prolapse can re occur is constant.
Hope we all get back to normal soon.

I am 10 weeks post op tomorrow with anterior and posterior repair. I am still having all those issues you described especially with the bloating and finding comfortable clothes to wear.
I have also developed a little cough and it still is NOT comfortable in that area when I cough. I guess that is a message that all that has not healed yet. I know it is frustrating but it must be normal if we are all having basically the same experience to one degree or another.
This recovery is definitely not for sissies!!
Wishing all patience and complete recovery in due time! Hang in there!!

I have found all this to be more mentally torturing rather than physically painful.
On the other hand living with bulges and walking like you have a lemon in vag is definitely no fun.. Also feeling pressure in vag when need a poo too is weird,I still get that on times. I mustn't forget I have a row of scarring along the top of vagina too from hysterectomy.
I'm thinking it's 4 months now and believing the recovery time to be for real.😑🙏🙏🙏🙏
