FS and nerve pain

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hey everyone, I have two frozen shoulders. I recently had an arthroscopic capsule release and mua on one.

I am now suffering from severe nerve pain in both of my arms and wrists. The one that is the worst is the non operated one.

Has anyone else had any problems with nerve pain and FS. Mine is ridiculously agonising and the medication doesn’t really help it just makes me sleepy.

Anyone that can give suggestions?

Thanks.

Sorry, Burtpies, I do not have any suggestions but I hope someone does. I can not imagine the agony of having this in both shoulders at the same time. That's too much. I had it in one shoulder with nerve pain just as I was starting to see improvement. Because I haven't had surgery, I think other readers will be more helpful. I just wanted to say I WISH I could help you.

Hi Burtpies, I also had 2 frozen shoulders, and yes, plenty of nerve pain through elbows and down to wrists. It's agonizing, and incredibly challenging to live with over months when pain relief mostly doesn't work. I cried a lot. Mobic did help me somewhat, and very very gentle pendulum exercises also helped a tiny bit - enough to take an edge off sometimes. Distraction into TV re-runs also helped to keep me distracted, as well as the reassurance that this would all get better with time - which feels impossible to really believe when you are in the midst of it over such a long period of time with no sensible answers and no real relief. I would say when you're having nerve pain - don't aggravate your shoulders as it just makes them worse. Take it easy and keep talking to your docs about appropriate pain relief. I learned about palmitoylethanolamide (PEA) via a friend who's pain specialist had her try it for her shoulders. It is a natural body lipid and is used as an anti-inflammatory and analgesic. I have been taking between 600-2700mg/day (~1-3 doses of 6-900mg) for ~6months now and it has helped my nerve pain. You can buy it pure from compounding chemists in Australia without a prescription. It is used more commonly in Italy and the Netherlands. It currently appears there are no recorded side effects and you can take it with other meds - but I am not a doc or a pharmacist so I suggest talking to your chemist and your doctor about it. Good luck and take care. smile

Thanks for the reply Hilary, I appreciate the feedback. I won’t say it’s good to know someone else is going through this because that would be cruel because it’s agonising. It’s good that someone understands my pain, literally.

My dr has me on Lyrica and endone/ oxcicontin not keen on it but it’s the only thing that has helped even a tiny bit. Because I’m a t1 diabetic there is also thoughts that the nerve pain could be a part of neuropathy, great.

The hard part is that because of this I can’t work, I was a teacher on contract the contract is now up and I’m unemployed. As I’m unemployed I can’t access insurance that could cover me for this because I’m not working. If I was working and On sick leave I would be covered. This brings in the fact that I can’t afford to get all the treatments I need, Physio osteo, myo etc.

If the pain wasn’t bad enough which it is I have issues with work and just getting by. 😔

Thanks for the reply I really appreciate it.
