FSH level 15 - am I ready for treatment?

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi - I’ve just had my blood test results back and all was normal except my FSH which was in the high range of 15 (I’m 41) so this probably explains my peri symptoms - sweats, mood swings, dizziness, palpitations, etc - I don’t have an appointment with my Gynae until August, so I’m hoping to get some advice from you wonderful ladies - should I start to consider taking oestrogen ? Currently I’m having about 15 days a month when I’m out of sync and am desperate for something to help - periods have become very light as well - after being very heavy for about a year, thanks.

    Hello Karen,

Was your estradiol low along with your high fsh?

Are you still having regular periods every month?

Mood swings , palpitations etc are all peri symptoms

The same here! I diagnosed with early meno a year ago at 41. I had very light and almost regular periods and severe symptoms. If you feel that your quality of life is affected and you have symptoms I think that you can ask for hrt. Hope it helps!

Yes I am on hrt and it gave my life back. I have no symptoms and feel better. Don’t let your body to suffer. My gyn made his diagnosis based on my symptoms and less on my blood tests. They are not accurate during peri.

Glad to hear that- did you have to try a few different ones before it worked, which one worked for you and what symptoms did it help? Thanks

Yes, I tried first livial for a month and it was a disaster for me! Now I am on Femoston 2/10 for about a year and feel good. I have no symptoms at all, no insomnia, no aches, no night sweats, perfect skin, better energy. Hope it lasts!

That’s amazing Vicky, so glad to hear that - did you have anxiety and mood swings as well ? Currently that’s my worst symptom.i tried the oestrogen gel for a year, and it worked amazingly for 6 months the all the symptoms came back, I guess my body may have changed or it wasn’t absorbing as well, so I came off it and have been trying natural things but nothing is really working so I’m hoping the patches are the answer with the mirena, seeing a specialist tomorrow so want to be ready with as much information as possible, so your advice is so helpful x

I was almost suicidal Karen. I was thinking that if my life was like hell I would like to die. I had brain fog, forgetfulness and depression. I was spending hours at home crying and was thinking that I would die alone. I am single and childless. Hrt gave my life back. It’s crucial to find the type that suits you. I preferred the pills cause I find them more convenient.
