Full hysterectomy looming

Hello, I wonder whether I can get any advice.  I think I will be having keyhole surgery this side of christmas - possibly the week before!  I have been reading a few comments = what is BSO?  My brain isn't working properly so cannot work these things out at the moment!  A few other abbreviations that I can't understand so your enlightenment would be very much appreciated.  Anyway - the things that I am worrying about are 1. - weight gain -  I have read that most people put weight on and I really can't afford to put any weight on so this is worrying - anyone have any thoughts on this? 2. - getting back to work - Again, I cannot afford to be off work for long, due to long term illness I was off for 18 months and still struggling getting on top of things after the mounting debts from being off so long- only been back about 6 months and have just taken another job which is bank work, so obviously will lose the pay from this while I am off.  I am hoping it will be no longer than 6 weeks, but could it be less than 6 weeks? That would be great if so, but as I have rheumatoid arthritis and fibromyalgia and a prolapsed disc in my spine, I think it is unlikely, although I will do my utmost to try to keep it to a minimum.  Of course, if anyone has the results of the next Euromillions draw that would be superdooperfanblinkintastic! and, of course, very much appreciated!!

So, any thoughts, ideas etc., or should I just shoot myself now and be done with it?!?

TIA xx

Hi again, sorry for the rushed answer, I had to answer the door.

You shouldn't put on weight ( I have though) it's one of those old wives tails really, I just pigged out before the op as I was confined to my bed for almost 4 weeks, so the excercise was somewhat lacking, don't know about work as I am retired, I think it's about 6 weeks though if you don't do anything manual then probably less that that, just read agin that you work in a bank so 4 week possibly, just so long as you don't do any heavy lifting. I felt like shooting myself beforehand but am glad I didn't as the beautiful Autumn colours today are stunning, haven't got any spare brains sorry, however my Border Collie is Super intelligent so I'll ask him LOL.

      Take care

ha ha I have a border collie too, she is lovely but also a PITA a lot of the time, barking constantly, doesn't help, but then she is so lovely and loving and really loves her cuddles and kisses.  It is lovely now with all the colours. I want to visit Tatton Park soon, it will be wonderful there now.

Oh and the bank work - well it actually means I am on the bank for support staff  I am a community support worker with Social Services but doing "bank" for another company, although I did used to work in a bank - that was extremely boring!! x

Ah the barking, I know it well he is also a PITA but so incredibly intelligent, too intelligent for his own good, he shows my German Shepherd up no end, though she isn't daft by any means.

Hi there, BSO Bilateral Salpingo Oopherectomy, or removal of both ovaries. I had all that you are having done the week before last christmas HO HO HO! lol

I had total hysterectomy and BSO and was signed off 4 weeks. Was done by laparoscopy not incision. I actually took 6 weeks but because going from full hormones to nothing left me not sleeping. I'm afraid I put on 2 stone in 3 months but I think it was half my own doing as comfort ate plus I was put on steroids. If you not losing ovaries weight gain isn't meant to be there. Good luck with op 😊
