Fundoplication severe shoulder pain

Hi everyone. I'm have a hiatus hernia and have been diagnosed with Barrett's oesophagus.. I had Nissen Fundoplication surgery on Saturday so l am now 5 days post surgery.

I am aware of the shoulder pain most people get post surgery and l understand this is due to pain referred by the nerve from my diaphragm that is healing from surgery.

So far the pain has been intermittent and reducing and for 2 days lve stopped the codeine based pain meds.

This evening I've experienced severe, like excruciating shoulder pain like nothing I've ever experienced. Its lasted about 2 hours now. I've taken codeine plus paracetamol and is now bearable but still there.

Has anyone that's had my surgery experienced this? .l would have thought pain would ease but this was extreme.
