Fungus or injury?

I hit this toe 3 times this year and the nail finally fell off and grew back with a yellow tint. Then I hit it again and now it looks like this. Before it was injured the very first time there was a small yellow spot on the nail which I assumed was from painting. Is this a fungus or from injury? Excuse my dry skinimageimage

I would assume its fungus and start treating it as such. Fungal infections in one nail can easily spread to all the others. There are lots of preparations you can buy online but you may have to try several before it has any effect. It can take a very long time eg 2 years, to get it under control. There are oral medications but doctors dont like giving them because of side effects. You have to take them for at least 6 months.

The only way you can be sure whether its fungal or not is to have some of the nail clippings sent for testing.

As your toe skin looks very dry you could try using an ointment for athletes foot on and around the nail/nails as a start.
