Oh I see debz I'm so sorry I didn't understand. Are you us ? As in uk we get a chair from occupational therapy or can hire from red cross but you may be able to hire something in the states if you can't borrow or get a foam cushion like others have suggested. Don't panic, it will all work out fine.

could you add cushions for height?  My mom did that on some chairs at her house - worked nice

If you can get a piece of thick foam and put that under the cushion perhaps that would do the trick.  This is what I had to do on the chair I had, or perhaps you can get one of those armshair booster cushions which you can put on top of the seat?  Failing that try a pillow and see if that will work.  Best wishes.

Hi my furniture was unsuitable for lifting so I bought a chair from a charity shop which was £30 and am using that . I had mine covered which was expensive but you don't have to for a few months .normam cushions are no good so I have a square cushion from a mobility shop which is firm to give extra height . It is comfortable but not as relaxing as my suite . Just something we have to do . Another thought may be could friends or family lend you one  ? Good luck

I'm not entirely certain what your problem is: are you saying that the legs of your husband's favourite chair are such that the apparatus available from the NHS to go under them to raise it to an appropriate height won't fit into the buckets of the apparatus?  If so, you may be able to use something else to put under the legs so as to raise the chair.

Hi Debs, I have a left THR on the 20th,  The OT have lifted my armchair, and I have managed to lift another chair easily with with a block of wood under the leags, quite simple really. Hope this helps.

    Hi

I'm not sure , are you in the US or the UK.....it makes a difference

Its been said that the Occupational therapist will provide you with a chair for 6 weeks or so {if in the UK} I only and 2 settees and they wern't happy with them so they gave me a chair for 6 weeks. Not the nicestsmile but for a short time I could put up with it.

    Love
