fusion problems

I am aged 71 and have been diagnosed for a couple of years.
I have reached a point where the labia have fused so much that
everytime I pass urine it is funnelled backwards I am needing to wash and dry my buttock area afterwards. Is it time I asked to
See specialist? I no longer have pain using a low dose steroid
regularly.

I had a dilation of the urethra 3 years ago. They had to use a child's dictator, it was so narrow. This is probably what you need. Caution, talk to them about what they use to disinfect the area before procedure. They cleaned me with a Betadine solution, which is very strong. It stripped my mucosa and caused much pain and burning for a week or more. This was the catalyst or the beginning of my LS. BE CAREFUL.

No, I don't know about the use of that, where did that information come from, I use a low pH wash.
Thank you.

Sorry to interrupt but you mention burning inside the vagina. Lichen sclerosis doesn't affect inside o Lynn outside. It sounds like you may have lichen planus which has similar symptoms. Or you have a nice tion of some kind. Go back to GP and ask for second opinion and don't be fobbed off. You are entitled to correct diagnosis and treatment. I think as women we need to insist on better treatment and not be robbed off. If the doctors suffered from this I am sure they would listen to us. Good luck.

Katie...are you seeing a gyno doctor? I recommend seeing a 'female' gyno. They are much more sympathetic and understanding of the frustrations associated with this diagnosis.
Praying you can find some answers and relief.

Your GP probably doesn't know too much about LS. Do you have a supportive husband? Bring him along for the next visit. Sometimes that makes an impression for the better.
?Meanwhile - try the baking soda bath and rinses. Or use Epsom salt instead, which is perhaps a little less affective than baking soda, but purifies as well.

There are many unfortunately. Only tests can determine which one. It would be wrong to suggest any. You need to go back to Gp and insist on being referred to a gynaecologist or Women's health clinic. Sorry no idea where you live. I wish you well.
