Fybromyagia "Crap Diagnosis "

Posted , 8 users are following.

Hello all, I am recently diagnosed with fibromyalgia and have been running the trials of medications ,specialists etc. The other day my counselor says to me ...that fybromyagia is a craps diagnosis, one you get when the Dr's have given up and have nothing else! I have symptoms of something from head to toe. I think I've been tested for everything at this point, am questioning if m.s. was included. I seem to have pretty normal blood test results ...coming up negative all around! Any input is greatly appreciated. .. I am in pain daily.. my legs fatigue very easy these days. I have had 3 possible TIA's 2 in the last cpl months. In hospital 4 days this last time (2 weeks ago ) Thank you All . I Love this forum. P.S. I'm having surgery July 13th (hemorrhoidectomy, sphincterectomy ) due to IBS issues. ~Theresa

Hello Theresa, sorry about your pain. I know the frustration all to well. I started having some all of the sudden joint pain so my doctor ran a western blot test for lymes dieseas and it came back positive even thou I NEVER SAW A RASH OR TICK. He then treated me for 30 days on antibiotic I got worse so he sent me to a rheumatoid SPECIALIST and he ran tests for inflammation (sed rates) and it showed I had some so he said I "probably" had lymes and this is caused by it I now have arthritis. So take something for pain.... then my doctor sent me to another specialist in San Francisco out of town, he tested me said I never had lymes and couldn't explain the positive result. So my doctor again sent me to another specialit in another town. He tested me said he "believed" I had fibromyalgia..... so my doctor gave me pain med tromadol. I continued to have ups and downs, then had lots of months with little pain. I am now going thru a MAJOR flare and in a lot of pain all over my body. this started up after I had the flu , so I tried CBD oil with very little thc, no help, tried turmeric no help. So going back to doctor tomorrow and YES I believe fibromyalgia is a I DON'T KNOW WHAT THE HELL YOU HAVE DIAGNOSIS... Don't give up........ good luck keep us posted. What meds are you on?

Hi, I am taking Lyrica,Celebrex , and starting Cymbalta tomorrow. I was on Gabapentin and Prozac... I'm also on meds for blood pressure, Lipitor, Prevacid for reflux...and klonopin to help during sleep (I flip around constantly because staying on any one place hurts to bad) I am 49 on the 11th and all my Dr's say I'm too young for this, which doesn't help lol

I have also been put on prednisone packs 3 times in the past cpl years and it helped tremendously with pain and inflammation but again I was told in too young to be out on steroids. .my grandmother took it most of her life.

It is very real.  There is a way to correctly diagnosis it, having to do with pressure points.  A good MD knows how. An internist diagnosed me, but usually I think rheumatologists know more about it.

Ya I know that’s how I was diagnosed by my rheumy but it still doesn’t stop ignorant people from making ignorant comments.

Hello, I am so sorry you are going through this. I also have polymyalgia rheumatica (PMR) an autoimmune disease. I take prednisone for PMR. I have also had an MRI thinking it could be ms. The MRI showed no signs of ms, however I still wonder. My rheumatologist diagnosed my fibromyalgia with blood tests, exrays, and all the pressure points. That was what did it for me because when she touched them all I had PAIN. Fibromyalgia is a very overwhelming disease hard to manage. My doctor has tried me on Cymbalta and gabapentin. Neither worked for me. I am taking hydrocodone which helps me make it through the day. My life has been forever changed I got these diseases. I am 72 and have had these diseases for at least 4 years. I wish you nothing but the best. Linda

hello. sorry to hear you are in painsad

my legs fatigue easy too(a distance longer then 13 minutes, and I have to use my wheelchair!!). I was told that fibromyalgia is really under the umbrella term "chronic pain/ illness", which also includes: depression, anxiety, IBS etc...

have you been on a Pain Management Programme?, I'm starting one next month and I've heard good things. They help you pace yourself, cope with the emotional and physical stress, plus, you meet similar people, so you don't feel like a fake if your legs suddenly hurt.

hope your surgery goes well. xx
