gaba: waking up where?

i am now on 800mg gaba 3 x a day. in the evening i will  get a bit sleepy and about an hour or two before bedtime, i will all of a sudden wake up with a jerk and be somewhere other than where i should be.  confusing.  i will be on the sofa and wake up a few minutes later across the room or even another room or actually have food in front of me and I DONT REMEMBER A THING.  HOW ABOUT YOUI?

    I have never done that with the food but have done a lot of other dumb things like I thought I was sleeping for 4to 5 hrs but it was only 45 mins and I woke my self up twitching really really hard and dripping sweat I do not even know what the dream was about, I felt as if I was dying ,I also couldn’t poop for days on end and now that I’ve been off it for 2 weeks I feel much better but I feel as though it is still in my system but I poop 2 times daily at least and I was told by my dr that this was caused from the opiats but it wasn’t it was from the gabapentin

      yes, ron, hi....ive done that also. think ive been asleep a couple of hours and its only 20 minutes. lol weird. i dont have any problem with the poop part. but opiates can really cause constipation. well you take care

    I have never had that happen to me. I do suffer from insomnia though because of Gapbapentin but never had that happen to me.  I was on 300mg 3x a day. I stopped because of weight gain, I am down to 100mg 2x a day and the withdrawal is really bad. I am committed to getting of this pill I am no longer myself any more.So many withdrawal symptoms it is a very powerful drug Good luck to you. Keep a journal of what you are going through.

      keep a journal? hahaha  apparently, id forget where i put it.  wow, i thought i could knock off at least one of the 800mg a day.  well, at the doctors will go back and tell whomever their patients dont like this crap!!!

      hi kathy, wanted to come back and tell you that i went cold turkey 10 days ago.  Actually, i meant to scale back but ended up in the hospital with heart ischemia. (didnt have anything to do w/gaba. i started being extremely short of breath .... well, I dont THINK it had anything to do with it but you never know.  Anyway, i have not had one symptom that i believe is from going off the gaba. I was scared after reading all the horror stories as well. if something does happen , ill come back and update. in the meantime, take care and the best of luck.

      So sorry to hear of your hospital stay hope all is well. My husband was on Gabapentin also and he quit cold turkey and not one withdrawal symptom. Lucky him. Im currently at 100 or 200 mg a day.  Still have symptoms but I will get off of this pill.  Good luck to you stay well.

    No this never happened to me on Gabapentin. It has happened while on Ambien though!

    If you are on other meds, maybe the combo is the reason? Oi would check with your pharmacist or Dr. Though. Good luck.
