What is the best way to stop taking 900mg of gabapentin?

Only been taking it for 3 weeks.

Don’t like how I feel on this med.

    Hi Todd,

    I was on 900mg for 3 months! I was told by my dr to do it this way! Drop 300mg every 5-7 days so like this;

    600 mg for 5-7 days

    300 mg for 5-7 days

    Then off

Withdrawals are not nice for me! I don’t know how you feel on it, but I know it nearly killed me! All the side effects you could think of I had!! I don’t know if my weaning schedule was to fast, because most of the comments I have read on here is to do it sloooowly! I just can tell you how my dr told me!! Good Luck coming off this evil drug!!!

Thanks! I appreciate the feedback for sure. I am on the first day of 600 right now and feel like my body wanted more.

I did start epsom salt baths and started a magnesium chloride to hopefully help withdraw.

I withdrawed off of xanax at one point of my life and now it’s time to kick this one out of my life.

I took it because I have occipital neuralgia.

      Thanks!

I think that is too fast. I was on 1200 and I cut 200 for two weeks, another 200 for two more weeks until I hit 300. Hen I cut 100 every three weeks. I had absolutely no side effects. Take tour time because the side effects are wicked and I don’t honk doctors realize had bad.

    slowly,but there's side effects I didn't know I'd get.

its a horrid medicine.i was put on it for a trapped nerve in my back.i started with 1x300mg 3 times a day,but the Dr increased mine to 4x300mg 3 times a day.like you I was in for a short time.

If you're only in 1x300 mg tab three times a day,you might be able to take the middle one later each time until it gets nearer the night one, then cut the night one out.

When I got down to 2 x300 tabs I did it for about a week then took half out the night one for about 5 days, then halved morning one the same. Eventually I took the morning one later in day, and cut night one out .That last 1/2capsule was the hardest, but again after about 5 days I cut that out and finished.

It's not an easy thing to come off.i was on them for 5-6 months Max.

The side effects are awful, but I'm starting to get through it after about an month off them

The depression set in and anger which is out of character for me.

Persevere, and I wish you luck, also I hope you've got a patient partner....mines a Gem to put up with the withdrawal symptoms.

Once you've got off them,, for God's sake refuse to take them again

I am so pleased that like me,youve managed to get off these horrible pills.i have been off them for several weeks too thank goodness .

I did have some side effects, but they are slowly getting better, and I'm starting to get back to my former self.

I won't ever take them again regardless of how much my back pain hurts.

Good luck, and push through any side effects you may or may not get.its worth it to be free.

      Gabapentin should be banned.

      Take care

Thanks for the feedback! I hope to never travel down this road again as well. Magnesium was key for me getting off this drug without side effects.
