My dr. prescribed it for my back pain, but I haven't tried it yet after I read the side effects: dizziness, sleepiness etc.  I drive a lot during the day & wouldn't want to take it when I'm driving, but I might try it sometime before bedtime.

Took for over 2 years. In the beginning it helped with the pain. Gradually was increased till finally barely took the edge off regardless of dosage.

Negative side, weight gain. Right near impossible to lose.

Thank you Katishma I am so done with pain but....don't like any of drug side effects if you know what I mean. Thinking of trying cannibs oil with NO THC. Don't want the high.

Hi, yes I tried gabapentin. It did not help any of my symptoms and had awful side effects... swollen feet and ankles, vertigo and others. Was on it long enough for my rheumatologist to get me up to a high dose. Good luck to you, though, Linda

Yes I tried it for 3 months. It didn't do anything for my pains and it made me even more exhausted. And made the brain fog 100 times worse. When i look back on those 3 months now its all a bit of a blur. I'm on Lyrica (Pregabalin) now and it's definitely better for me but then everyone's different. Your probably best to try Gabapentin as you just don't know until your on it. Good luck.

Thank you trish. I hate all the side effects I know Lyrica has some too, swelling, visual disturbances etc my mom tried it for PMR. how have your side effects been on Lyrica and what dose are you on. Do you take all the time or just flare ups??? So done with the pain and depression. ..

Unfortunately this medication increased my depression 10 fold leaving me feeling almost suicidal, the lowest in my life. This of course is only my experience but I would advise anybody to be cautious with this drug.

I hope things work out ok for you.

      Sending love x

To be honest Lyrica has given me the least side effects so far. Im only on 100mg twice a day but so far so good. I take it every day as my fibro is pretty bad all the time then I get regular flare-ups on top.

I'm on prednisolone for my PMR but now on a weaning dose of 2.5mg (i told my rheumatologist to get me off it asap as i'd put on about 5 stone since starting it in 2015 which doesn't help with the pain and depression).

I also take a butec patch (20mg an hour) and I find the combination of this with the Lyrica is giving me a little relief. I'm grateful for any drop in pain as it's taken me nearly a year to get something that has any type of positive effect.

I think everyone on here will sympathise with you as sometimes it feels like a losing battle with this condition but you gotta keep fighting hun.

For info, I got so fed up taking pharmaceuticals I actually went and had kinesiology to see if it could do anything for me. It was life changing tbh as she was able to tell me things that the Dr had never even touched on! For instance, she told me I had a leaky gut (all the symptoms of which are identical to Fibromyalgia!) She explained she had a lot of clients who come in with a Fibro diagnosis but within 2-3 months of natural treatments they have no pain, no brain fog, no fatigue etc. I'd do ANYTHING to be at that point so I started taking the supplements she suggested. This includes L-Glutamine, Black Walnut Oil tincture, Magnesium and Inflammite. It's only been 2 weeks but I've lost 11lbs and feel better in myself already. Maybe something for you to consider doing alongside conventional medicine too?

Hi. I use gabapentin and have for about 2 years now. I take 1800mg per day and it's fine. Now and then I can slur my words but it's the better of the 2 evils (pain or slurring). I also take other medication along with these. Also gabapentin doesn't cause any internal problems. It's gentle on the stomach also. Hope this helps

Hello, I take gabapentin everyday at 100mgs. I haven't had any issues with it as far as side affects are concerned. Now about 5 years ago a doctor had me on it at 800mgs and I couldn't take being loopy. It took all of my pain away but I couldn't deal with the feeling like I was walking on a cloud feeling. Now I take it 2 pills at night before I go to bed and it's good.
