Gabapentin and ectopic heartbeats

I’ve been to hospital today and was told I have costochondritis at the moment I also have and ectopic heart beat which they gave me no reason for ,I started gabapentin for my Fibro 5 days ago does anyone know if the heart beat could be due to this ?  Thanks

    I have read it can cause an irregular heartbeat.  Those are usually harmless.  I have one myself sometimes.  My cardiologist did not seem concerned. I don't know if it is due to the Gabapentin.  If you have only been on it for 5 days, ask your doctor if you can stop it and see if the heartbeat issue resolves.  There are two meds I was given for GI issues that sent me to the ER after 2-3 days of an irregular heartbeat.  Once Instopped the med, I was ok.

      Thanks for your reply, yes I’m going to call my doctor first thing Monday.as I’ve been on them a short time I’m sure there will be no issues stopping as  still only on one tablet a day and I haven’t yet upped the dose .i really don’t want to take it tonight as last night was horrible I noticed it every time and as the day has gone on today it seems to have eased an I haven’t noticed it as much ,earlier in the day the paramedics noticed it before I was taken to hospital .i seem to not be any good on any of the meds they have tried me on unfortunately 

      Wondering if anything will ever help

    You can't get in touch with your doctor after hours or on the weekend?  What did the ER Doctor say?  I know what I would do but not my place to advise you.  Don't do well on a lot of meds, make me feel worse, most of the time.  I was prescribed Gabapentin for GI issues.  I am trying to wean off it but don't seem to be able to get below 400 mg a day.  I have been on it over 2 years now.  Have you seen a Rheumatologist?

      Nope can’t get in touch with them until Monday unfortunately .the doc at hospital didn’t give me any reasons why my heart is I doing this just that I had costochondritis .ive checked my meds pack and in actual

      Fact I haven’t only taken my gabapentin for 3 nights (Fibro fog I’m  so forgetful I thought it was 5 ) I’m now die to take a tablet and am dreading it .im sorry to hear you are having such a hard time getting off them

    Yes, it can be from the Gabapentin. I took it since 2007, about 6 yrs ago I started having"heart attacks"

    yet they could not find evidence of a heart attack on a bunch of EKG's over they ran me through. I have been of GABA for almost 3 mos now. No more heart problems.  Gaba has a lot of side effects, I put all the ones I got to just old age  (63)  now they are all gone.

    Gabapentin is a tough drug. Side effects when on it, and they’re magnified when coming off.  I’m 2 months off and still experiencing symptoms.  I would recommend checking in with doc about the ectopic heartbeat and possible relation, maybe there’s an alternative treatment.

      As soon as docs open Monday I’m

      Going to speak to them .lm lucky I have only been on them a few days ,I’ve already tried Amitriptyline aswell so don’t no what’s next to try .thanks for your reply
