Gabapentin cause chronic pain

Any experience with gabapentin causing chronic pain problems when taking or withdrawing? During my taper I developed major issues with sciatica and my hip. I'm also taking forever to heal from a frozen shoulder injury (14 months). I had preexisting issues. My guess is it's from all the couch time necessary to heal. But it feels like it shouldn't be this bad. I'm only 29

I'm now two weeks into my withdrawl from Gabapentin. The most horrible experience of my life. Originally i was prescribed it for a spine problem, leading to constant sprains on my right hand side. 300mg x3 daily, it was only a few days in when i experienced an accelerated heart rate which turned to palpitations and then horrendous anxiety. My Doctor stopped my cold turkey, which then lead to my two weeks of hell. My heart feels like it is beating out of my chest, making it nearly impossible to get any sleep. My left hand side has been terribly weak, with a tingling sensation in my left leg and arm. Today, i am starting to see the light. My body seems to finally be recovering from this terrible drug. Unfortunately, my chronic pain from my back problem has come back with a vengance, and feels ever worse than before i startked taking

If you can find someone who practices Scenar therapy in your area, i would highly reccomend it as it was a revalation for stopping constant pain from injuries.

    All the best Emma!

Whilst it is possible that you are having withdrawl symptoms its also possible that the dose you were taking was masking the pain hence why coming down in dosage has brought pain back.

I would go back to the Dr or a PT to see if they can help.
