gabapentin side affects

Have been taking gabapentin since last year for chronic pain, okay until a few months ago, started to feel tired, pains down front of my legs, bad cramps, also weight gain, went to the docs, she had me taking blood tests, no joy, had been put on an extra blood pressure tab a few months before, was told it could be tablet, she asked me to stop taking the tab, a few days later started to take pains in my chest, went back on blood pressure tab as soon as I could, went back to doc told her how I had been feeling, didn't check my blood pressure etc, she then told me to cut my gabapentin down slowly over a week and to get back to her if I had any problems, I also suffer from copd,

Getting rid of the gabapentin may help your weight gain and fatigue. I was on it for almost 4 years and tapered down over 4 months last year. I dropped 14 lbs right off, and I wasn't doing a thing differently. Gabapentin also has high blood pressure ad a side effect. My BP is down. But I gradually withdrew from cymbalta trazadone, and clonidine as well. Taking each med one at a time. Took me over a year. Cymbalta also has high blood pressure as a side effect. Also, all these meds were sedating (while still not helping me sleep!). So once I was off all them for a while, a bit more energy came back.

I'd take a list of your meds and check them out on rxlist.com or drugs.com. Check out the side effects. You may find what you are taking is making you worse.

Hi Katherine, noticed that you had a bad time on gabapentin. I've been on 900mg but I keep fainting and when I stand up, I walk like I'm drunk. Not in a straight line. Gabapentin gives me a good sleep thou. I'm on gabapentin for cancer nerve pain.
