Gabapentin stopped working

I started gabapentin about 2 months ago for insomnia and surgical nerve pain. It worked great , until three days ago. I take one 300mg at 5 pm and one 300mg around 10:30pm . It worked great for a couple of months. Slept 8 hours each night and the damaged nerve pain all but disappeared. But 3 nights ago it stopped working and an extreme dry mouth started . I don't really want to up the dose , considering everything I've read on here about other peoples withdrawal symptons trying to come off gabapentin. I haven't talked to my doctor yet though about comming off them. I think I may have been better off before I started gabapentin. Has gabapentin stopped working for anyone else. And has anyone had delayed side effects from this drug. If so , would you please let me know what you've done about it. Thanks to anyone who has read this post.

Hi Jessie...you are one of many. I am also pledged with gabapentin delayed effects and experience all mentioned withdrawal symptoms. I too was given this as a post-op med. my daily dose was 600mg 3x/day totaling 1800mg/day. I am hit hard with first a sever sweat and dizziness so sever that I must imediatley drop to my knees or I faint secondary to a BP drop...then nausea with vomiting about the 14hr of not taking it. I am down to 150mg upon rising and 300mg around 5pm.... if that second dose is missed I get extremely ill. I took brand name neurontin 15 yrs ago post-op with no difficulty tolerating it or coming off. I have never had the dry mouth. It may have been a filler in the lot of gabapentin you received ...we won't probably ever know the cause. Our medications are being made in various 3rd world countries and it seems that the average consumer thinks the FDA monitors the quality control of the meds in the USA...not so....all anyone has to do is google FDA fast track generics to see this. It is all the on the FDA website. The pharmaculical business is self regulated. The monies are all hedge funded had placed securely off-shore, mostly in the carabiean. I am also a RN with 20 yrs of case management under my belt. I put patients on this medication all the time and presumed it safe. In the past 2 years I have had 3 medications I have taken for years fall short of the bar and gabapentin has caused me harm. It is a flat out crime and I can't even get a doctor to listen to me except for one who I've worked with for many years. When I complete this current ween I'm on...that's it....finished with this junky, mean, money grubbing industry we call medicine. As practitioners our hands are tied as consumers we know more about what's in the food our dogs get. Those labels include ingredients yet we take pharmaculicals which require none....sad indeed that we must now worry. Good luck....proceed with caution.

Well , I live in East Texas , so I haven't been able to contact my doctor. But right after I put my post up I decided to only take one 300mg gabapentin. Still not sleeping much but no side effects from stopping one of the pills. So now I'm only taking one 300mg per day around 10pm.
Yes , I agree about the FDA. It's a big joke and money maker for them. I don't believe too much they say. Thank you for your reply and all the best to you.
