Gabapentin systems. I’m very dizzy

I can’t believe That I was prescribed such a high dose for siatic pain. I was prescribed 600 mg 3 times a day. That was 7 months ago. I didn’t take it because I had never heard of it and didn’t know the side effects. But last night I took one 600 mg pill broken in half during the night and woke up very dizzy. I’m still dizzy in the afternoon. I’m wondering how long this will last and abviously I am not taking any more. Do I have to wean off of one pill and take 300 mg tonight. That seems like it might be unnecessary but I do not understand this awful drug. Hopefully I just have to endure being dizzy for a couple of days and flush the rest of the bottle down the toilet. I would really appreciate any comments that will help me understand what I did. Thanks very much.

When I started, it made me a little dizzy at first then went completely away. It should subside soon.  I hope the neat for you! I would ask doctor if it don’t go away, but it should soon. I kept taking mine up to 900 a day and it didn’t bother me at all.

yes as the other poster replied you have started off way too high this medication needs to be started low and slow.

test your response against your own body and not what the doctor says you should be on because you may get adequate relief at lower doses and not need to go so high.

bear in mind that the body tolerates this med very quickly and you keep having to go higher to get the same level of pain relief but then getting all the side effects.

the same rule goes with all pain medication

stay low dose and just enough for your pain to be controlled

and this is not necessarily the higher doses prescribed by your doctor
