Gabapentin withdrawal horrors

Short story. 3 years ago i had back surgery for herniated discs. All was well until almost exactly 2 years later when problems compounded and i began my 3000mg per day gabapentin regimen. A few months after that i began 40mg of morphhine on top of the gabapentin under the advice of my doc...even though i had already began to complain of depressive and rage inducing thoughts. Anyway, 4 days ago i seen my doc again, told her i did not think i should continue the gaba anymore, gave her my reasons, and she told me that gaba has no side effects so it made no sense, but if i wanted to stop, then just stop cold turkey. Today is day 4 after stopping gaba and morphine cold turkey, i think i have slept no more than 3 hours in that time, vomiting phase is done after having to go to hospital for iv fluids, but the diarrhea is still persisting. Sooo tired!! Guess i just have to keep telling myself that it is going to go away...right?

From all the things Iv'e read, everyone reacts differently to this stuff. In the end it all eventually gets back to normal, takes more time for some, less for others.. The one thing I did read about gab and am doing it myself is taking 250 mg magnesium and a vitamin B complex daily, seems to help.. Of course I would talk to a doctor first about what would be best for your'e situation.. From what I see your'e doctor said I would get a second opinion!! Can't hurt!!!

Oh my goodness I don't know what your Dr was thinking to stop cold turkey. Im down 1o 300mg from 900 mg. This has been a few months now also taking B12 and Magnesium seems to rotate screen some. Still suffering from insomnia and some depression but yes one day at a time. Good luck to you ,you have gone through a lot. Just have to keep the faith.

I had 2 doctors tell me to just quit taking it.. I was only on it for 10 weeks so I guess they figured if I could handle the withdrawal to go for it.. Of course I wasn't taking it for seizures so I was in no danger there.. My vertigo, which is why it was given to me in the first place and did not help, has increased somewhat today and the ear ringing, I hope it goes away soon, Iv'e been off it now about a month..
