Gagging problem after chiari decompression? Is this normal?

Hi, hoping to get some insight from other chiari sufferers. My 3 year old daughter had decompression surgery and cerebellum tonsils lasered to treat chiari malformation and spinx. After surgery she picked up RSV respiratory tract infection which caused her to cough a lot which made her dura patch open and she had a bulge of spinal fluid to the surgery site it eventually was reabsorbed back into the body. Ever from this happened my little girl is complaining of what she describes is a bubble in her mouth (at the roof of her mouth) which is causing her to gag and even vomit until she gets a drink of water! Has anyone else experienced anything like this after surgery?
I've made an appointment to see gp for her but I was just wanting to know if this is a common condition

Hi there,
I had never heard that after surgery, but I had that prior surgery, after I had decompression - I was fine..I have my life back now.
I would really get to the A&E...she is only 3 years..if you take her to A&E they bound to pay attention - explain it to the staff for them to be seen by the Neurologist/Neurosurgeon, please do not wait to go to GP, they know nothing about Chiari..you incharge of your child health..thats what would I do..if the child is mine.

Hi thanks for your reply , do you know what caused the bubble? Was it a bluid up of spinal fluid? I took her to gp then a&e. The doctor at a&e ring her neurosurgeon who said it has nothing to do with them as they where no where near the part of the brain! She never had this problem before hand so I'm not convinced it's nothing to do with the surgery. They have made a referral to ENT to have a look at her! I feel like I'm going around in circles 😢! Also she seems to be suffering from hot flushes always complaining that she sweating. Did you ever get this before surgery?

Well, I had hotlashed, I thought because I was menopouse early....but since I take magnesium and Vit D plus other multi max vit.it stopped. NO, I never exprienced what your child has, I really (if I were you) get to to A&E..just call the ambulance..let the ambulance take her to A&E..explain it there and then..you like to see the Neuro Surgeon..it is something to do with the NS because the dura patch opened..please do it ASAP..your child must be so suffering..call the ambulance now..get your child health sorted out.
