Gall Bladder.....Maybe?

Posted , 16 users are following.

have been feeling bad, off and on again for quite some time.  I use the term flare up as it seems to hit pretty suddenly. (seemingly the day after eating greasy food not 100% on that) but when it "flares" it can last for a week or 2, with major bloating infrequent and small bm and discolored bm (orange to yellow tmi, I know but I think it is involved somehow) I have had constant low grade pain in my right shoulder blade for a very long time.  30 mins or so after eating I get nausea...I never vomit...just feel green.   Energy is very low, tired all the time.  I had a nissen fundoplication a year ago which fixed my reflux.  I have seen a gastro doc with this been scoped both ends all is good, blood work is good only thing at all was a low anion gap.  Kidney function is good, sonogram shows normal gall bladder, hida scan shows 87%ejection fraction.  Surgeon says biliary dyskonesia and wants to remove my gall bladder.  I am very hesitant to remove it knowing it tests ok.  I am great with removing it if it will fix me but would be pretty p*ssed off if I get it out and still have these problems, I want  to be back to my old self before this started a couple of years ago.  I am hoping someone has had similar problems or can offer some advice as my regular doctors say nothing is wrong.

Halp....please....

Hey burner. I meet with a surgeon this coming Friday with all the same symptoms as yours minus the discolored stool. My GI is pointing to gallbladder as my HIDA scan is 91%. I’m hesitate to have it removed because I don’t have typical gallbladder symptoms and don’t want to be left gallbladderless and remain the same. How are you now, two months post op? I couldn’t see what your second HIDA EF was. Could you relay? Thanks!

My first HIDA was perfect.  Two years later I wasn't any better and demanded a second one.  The second came back my GB was jacked with "abnormally low ejection fraction due to chronic cholecsystitis."   The pathology report said it was damaged from being inflamed so much.   I am 3 months post op and life is better.  No moar nausea, which was my big issue.  Apparently mine had been bad for so long my body had already adjusted to life without it.  I can eat what I want without the raging liquid side effects that many seem to have.

Thanks for getting back with me! Met with the surgeon today and he said “on paper” I look good but my symptoms point to gallbladder and it’s up to me if I want it removed. That’s so my pressure on a patient to make a decision like that. I want to feel better, just scared of this!!

Hi, well this sounds so much like what I am going thru. All tests have come back fine, even my Hida scan. My doctor feels I should have my gallbladder out and after 1 more test to check my esophagus hoping she will schedule surgery. THis has been going on since October and I am sick of feeling sick all the time. It may be a gamble but I would do anything to feel normal these days.. Sure hope they get this figured out for you...
