Gall stones

After an ultra sound scan i have "quite a collection " of gallstones , to my surprise ,since 18 months ago i had all the tests as a suspected 'heart problems ' and it wasnt picked up. Hence, i have had the on/off pain in the chest for along time , now i know what its is.

My question" Im hungry and after eating Lo-No fat food , no big meals, im left bloated , nausea sometimes and hungry ( acid tummy ). I simply get  a huge bloated tummy as the day goes on . Im a  size 14  in the morning .Anyone else ?

Im taking ant acid meds and waiting the op to have my gall bladder emoved .

Can these stones not be removed via laser surgery or any other method other than removing your gall bladder ? After all - you have a gall bladder for good reason. Have you discussed this with your specialist ? I had a Cholesystectomy over 30 years ago in the early 1970's  & now have what they say is Bile Acid Malapsorption & live with this debilitating consequences years later. Do your research.

Glad you have a diagnosis. I suffered with nausea, bloating and all manner of other symptoms. I was on pantoprazole for acid etc and ondansetron for the nausea, might be worth checking if either of those may help with your symptoms. I was lucky that my surgery was scheduled within 3-4 months of my scan and had my op last week. All went well and nowhere near as painful after op as I was expecting. Good luck and hope you get your date for surgery soon.

Hi, Amanda, sorry to learn you're having these troubles.  The upside is that you have a diagnosis and can expect to be scheduled for surgery.  Your gallbladder is diseased, and I think it's a good idea to remove a diseased organ you can live without, rather than try to hold onto it.  Diseased gallbladders can become seriously infected and even become cancerous.  I would suggest that you try to make sure that you are drinking enough liquids during the day, perhaps that might help.  Lots of us had the other problem, diarreha, lots of it, because of the excess bile produced by the liver.  You could also try enteric coated peppermint oil capsules, they do soothe the small intestine.  Best of luck, and let us know how you get on.

    Hi Amanda,

i had had the same as you, I was taken into hospital with a suspected heart attack. They didn't diagnose gall stones until 3 months later (March). I had my gall bladder out last Wednesday, so I'm early days ??

I wish mine were dissolvable, hate the thought of having them taken out!!! I have a real thing about things touching my belly button, so that bit hasn't been great. I hope I'm going to be OK to go back to work, I have a ladies day at the races on Thursday so have booked Friday off aswell

I thought all keyhole was dissolvable stitches and what a pain yours are not. Am sure removal will go well.

How nice to have the races to look forward to and good idea to book the day after off in case it wears you out.

I've booked myself a week in the sun next week so I can just relax and sunbathe and recover fully.
