Hiya, hope someone who has/had similar experiences will help me out cos I am getting nowhere with doctors..

so I've had ongoing pain for as long as I can remember, everytime I eat I get a dull cramping just under my ribcage and I cannot stop burping- sorry if tmi cheesygrin my upper back/shoulders are in constant pain and I currently look about 8 months pregnant. When I get the severe pain I almost feel as though I'm sweating and my hands get so clammy. I'm extremely tired 24/7, and yesterday I had about 4 sharp stabbing pains in my right ribcage which then subsided. I spoke to a doctor who put my back pain down to a 'muscle spasm', had a feel of my tummy and said possibly gallbladder, but maybe stomach? and prescribed me omeprazole and 100 cocodamol without any advice on what to do next. I am so fed up of being in pain and maybe im underplaying it now because this is what im used too. My partner also says something my breath isnt foul but extremely acidid eek any advice would be great!

Hi, have you tried cutting almost all fat out of your diet? I had all your symptoms, it's taken from November to get an appointment to see a surgeon and that's been after lots of tests to rule everything else out. Cutting fat out has been the only thing that helped me to feel any better. Keep going back to your doctor. I hope you improve soon.

I don't have an overly fatty diet though thats the thing! it's so frustrating. thankyou smile x

Sounds like gallbladder, is it worse if you eat fatty food, does it change when you move... Stones can block bile duct, lying down may get them to move. I had similar, the temperature and sweats too

It's always worse when I lay down, makes my chest hurt so much too! just wish I knew for sure without getting fobbed off by the doctor sad

Hi there, I can only give a couple of bits of advice/help based on my experience, I am not a dr or health professional - I wish, although I do often wonder if they are any use!!!!  I have had all these horrendeous symptoms for a while, you may have a gallbladder issue but you may also have gastritis (stomach) which I have discovered give similar symptoms, likewise a hiatus hernia can also create alot issues. The main thing for all of these (until the dr's find out what it is) is to cut out fats, including dairy fat, icecream, butter, cheese etc. Eat a bland diet where possible and eat small amounts - I could go on!! One thing I would point out is that Cocodamol will make you constipated - which when you have a gastric issue is never great, take some senna..  Do keep going to the dr's as they will eventually refer you to a specialist.  Good luck and really hope that you feel better soon.

Yeah i feel as though I'm gonna have to keep being annoying and going back. The back pain is consistent and NEVER goes away hence he said it was muscular, but I have a constant niggling in my stomach which never really goes away either. my bowels are all over the shop anyway so yeh constipation is the last thing I need! thankyou for your advice smile

hi, the stabbing pain as you mention,i had exactly the same,it was terrible, had a job to walk,no sleep, other than that i was okay, was rushed in to hospital,gb removed,;; you need a ultra sound done this shows up any gb problems, all best,

Hi Lacey, as someone has already said you need an ultrasound to see if its gallstones and then a gastroscopy to check your stomach and top of your duodenum. Go back to your doctor and ask for this to be done without these tests yours symptoms may get worse so don't be afraid to go to a&e if the pain gets too much to bare.

Around that area the organs can give similar symptoms so these tests need to be done to rule out which part of the body this is coming from.

Let me know how you get on. Take care

Make another appointment with GP. Explain you're getting worse and ask for a referral. The symptoms you describe, intense pain, tiredness, bloating, sweating, burping can all be symptoms of gallbladder issues but also other digestive issues. You'll need scans and blood tests to be sure.

Watch out for jaundice: dark urine, pale stools, yellowing of skin and whites of eyes, itching, and cold sweats. Try eating a low fat diet to see if that helps and don't overload the stomach. Take the Omeprazole, but be wary of cocodamol as it can cause constipation, especially if you're prone to it. Paracetamol isn't as powerful but doesn't constipate.

Have you had sickness, nausea or diarrhoea that happens immediately after eating? They are other gallbladder symptoms. I know it's hard but try to stay positive.

my urine is always so so dark, but i'm rubbish with my fluids so I know that doesn't help. More recently I've been having bowel movements 2/3 times a day which isnt that normal for me, and yeh I get the nausea and the stomach bloating almost immediately after eating. it's bizarre and such a long winded process finding out what it is. I just want answers cry

    Hello smile

I can totally relate to how you're feeling I have back and forth to the doctors since October/November last year and I've been rushed into hospital on miltiple occasions due to the pain which was excruciating upper abdominal pain on my right side just below my rib rage which would move round to my shoulders and my back it's unbearable.

My GP has took 9 blood tests in total since I had my first episode in October on a few occasions when my results came back my liver enzymes were abnormal but then the next test would come back clear and my GP outright asked me if I was an alcoholic, how much alcohol I drink on a daily basis as this is the only explanation as to why my liver enzymes were raised, I'm 21 I work full time and I also drive so I definatley don't have time to be an alcoholic haha, as I tried to explain this wasn't the reason she was convinced I was in denial and continued to speak to me about seeking help I was so humiliating and uncomfortable!

After many more trips back and forth I didn't seem to be getting anywhere or getting any answers it was more a case of they'd prescribe me different painkillers each time just to see what worked on two of the occasions I was rushed to hospital I got an injection for pain relief but they said I couldn't have it on any more than those two occasions as it carries a risk and they couldn't admit me without a diagnosis and I should go to a "pain doctor" instead as they couldn't explain what was causing me to be in crippling pain.

I went to the doctor and requested a referral for an ultra sound as this had been going on for too long I just wanted answers and she referred me and I had my first scan a month later and I was told there and then that no gallstones can be seen and I was told and everything seemed as it should be, a few weeks after my scan I started having these episodes again but the pain was constant it would last 2/3 hours at a time my GP referred me for an MRI scan which took about 6 weeks and I waited a further 7 weeks after my MRI for results that were actually sent to my doctor 3 days after my scan but for 7 weeks they said they hadn't received them yet when in fact they were available for just under two months my GP sat and looked at the results and told me it again was ALL CLEAR and I had nothing to worry about so again I was back to square one.

I came home from work last Friday to a letter from my doctor telling me my scan results weren't clear and I'm being referred urgently for surgery as I have "a dangerously high amount" of large gallstones and the right side of my stomach is swollen and tender and it looks as if the swelling is increasing so I called my new doctor today and explained I was being physically sick bile, my body was felt like it was overheating causing me to sweat buckets then I'd moan I was cold but few minutes later i was sweating buckets again then she called me in and explained these are symptoms of gallbladder rupture and if my symptoms worsen or there's any changes I've to seek help immediately.

Sorry that was such a long message but I wanted to explain my full story because as you can see it's been such a long draining process with being given the all clear twice and then receiving letters weeks after infact telling me the complete opposite and not once did I receive an apology.

I would just like to add if you feel something isn't right then request an Ultrasound or an MRI scan, you seem to be having the main symptoms of gallstones, it just seems some doctors these days arent paying enough attention to what we're trying to seek help for and think they can just prescribe you some painkillers and everything will be fine. Please go back to your doctor and request scans / tests as these are two of the best ways to check for Gallstones or any issues in the abdomen.

I hope everything is okay & you feel better soon! X

Oh no you poor thing! it's frustrating isn't it. I feel sluggish CONSTANTLY.. thing is theres been only maybe once or twice where i've been in crippling pain, the rest of the time its either a dull ache or a sharp stabbing and I feel as though I'm not 'ill enough' to be taken seriously.... and then feel like im wasting the doctors time! i'll keep pushing though, seems they only do something when its too late. thankyou for your advice x
