Gallbladder issues?

I have had pains for several years all on my right side. up my shoulder and general right upper quadrant, and also up my neck and my head. also pains around my ribs on the right side and some pains even down to my hip and down my leg to my knee area and down to my foot.

I have had scans and there is no sciatic problem causing these pains. I do have a slight hip problem which may cause some of the hip pain and leg discomfort/pain. However I have no explanation for my right shoulder pain and rib pain, I also have pain in my mid back and discomfort or pain in m scapula area just generally all over my right shoulder and back area but it changes and moves and some days different areas hurt more.

I also some days have a sort of pulsing feeling in or under my ribs. Breathing can be VERY difficult some days and I find myself taking shallow breaths and sometimes feel that I have an issue with my diaphragm. When I take deep breaths there is pain under my right ribs area.

I saw a rheumatologist and had scans for back issues like inflammatory arthritis etc and he said I was all clear. I was diagnosed with bio-mechanical back pain but that we should still keep an eye out for development of any arthritic issues. I definitely feel there is some sort of inflammatory aspect to it. I took omeprazole and naproxen while having tests to see if they helped - they did as they killed the pain a bit.

Anyway as I have always maintained I feel there is a dietary aspect to all this and I have tried all sorts of diets or restrictions of various foods, milk, dairy, bread and grains, every combination you can imagine almost.

When I had tests I had given up all exercise almost as I was in pain, I had also put on weight. I was encouraged to exercise and strengthen my core etc - I did this with a lot of effort and I am pleased that I am in now better shape and feel stronger - but the pain/discomfort is still there.

I also had acid reflux and was referred to a gastro expert who said come back if your acid comes back badly (at the time I was better through diet changes) and he diagnosed slight acid reflux and also said my pains on the right side after examining me was IBS - I'm not sure of this.

I am unsure if it is the weight loss or exercise that has helped but I feel it is my diet from day to day which is keeping the pain levels down, I have noticed that overeating or eating foods that are processed, or basically cakes biscuits chocolate and all the bad foods seem to aggravate me terribly. I cannot understand how this correlates to bio-mechanical back pain.

I have formed a thought lately that my discomfort or pains are linked to eating junk foods and or foods that are high in fat. This has led me to researching the liver and gallbladder and I am concerned that all my hell-ish existence is due to gallbladder issues or gallstones. Is it possible for this to be the case?

I also had some other symptoms such as fatigue and feeling like I needed to sleep after food, lunch time especially. Actually I often do have a 20 minute power nap. Also, I used to get constipated and although I would still go to the toilet they would be yellowish or clay-like in colour and it would be round pieces (sorry to be graphic). Three weeks ago after listening to some Youtube videos I started drinking lemon water and apple cider vinegar which seems to have helped my bowel movements be more normal, colour has changed to brown and no longer constipated. I am not convinced about lemon water 100%, but I feel it may have helped with the flow of bile? maybe enough to change the colour?

I have also noticed that intermittent fasting - skipping breakfast seems to help my pans settle down and doing this a few days after each other really helps.

Can anyone help me with whether these could be gallbladder symptoms?

Thanks everyone

Gareth

    hi Gareth,

You symptoms could be linked with gallbladder issues but the only way to know is for you to have an ultrasound scan and perhaps even a Hida scan.
