Gallbladder or Liver on and off for 4 years.

I've had pain coming from my abdomin under my lower right rib.  So over the course of 4 years I've had 2 rounds of blood tests, a colonoscopy, an endoscopy with a biopsy, a celiac test, a CT scan, an ultrasound, and a HIDA scan.  Everything has always come up fine until this last test where all my blood results were perfect except my liver enzymes were way up.  Over the last four years my pain has come and gone.  At the least it lasts a day or so and at it's most it goes on for about three weeks but it always leaves.  The only reason my liver levels were up was because my doctor and I agreed that we wouldn't do anything until I felt pain again and that's when we did the blood tests.  He's now recommending an MRI because he thinks it's something "mechanical" but my pain has subsided as it always does and I'm hestitant to do it and find nothing.  So I guess I'm wondering what this might sound like to anyone out there and if anyone else has had these come and go symptoms like I have.  If my doctor can't prove that my gallbladder is the issue then I don't want to take it out.  I'm just at a loss as to what to do.  thank you.

A cat scan would show a failing gallbladder right away or stones in there. Don't let him take out your gallbladder if it's unsure, almost had mine out when I had inflammation on it due to having gerd. There's so many reasons why that level is off its unreal. Have you thought about maybe heartburn? My right side hurts a lot and it's not gallbladder. I did the cleanse also.

Yes I am gallstone free now. It took me 6 monthes to get there. I still have some pain due to heart burn this gerd condition that I have but it's manageable.

Don't do the cleanse until you looked at your scan to see if any stones are larger than 3 mm in there. You don't want them gettin stuck in the duct

Hi chris I had all the same symptoms as you and found out in late dec that my duct was blocked with a very large stone the pain would come and go which I now realise was when I ate fatty or greasy foods .In jan this year I was taken into hospital to have my gallbladder removed and must say am felling loads better. Do still have slight pain when eating the same greasy food but now I only eat low fat foods and am taking multi vitamins and feel almost back to my old self. After years of discomfort I am glad to have had the op and if Im honest with myself my diet was doing me no favours . They found the stone with an ultra sound. Hope this helps and you feel better soon
