Gallbladder Removal- 4 weeks later

I went into the ER on a Sunday with chest pain to find out eventually that I had gallstones and was in surgery on Wednesday. I had four golf ball size stones and had the laparoscopic surgery. At the four week mark, the pain comes and goes. I can't eat or drink very many things (stay away from carbonated beverages and cooking oils).I am very tired all the time, I have no energy, some days it's hard for me to even stay awake at work. I have had almost a total loss of appetite and when I do eat I feel full or bloated very quick. Sometimes I will have painful stomach gas that lasts for hours. I started having pains on my left lower abdomine that feels similar to a pulled muscle and a lot of bloating. Everyone I have spoken to that has had the surgery says they were feeling so much better a week later but I am struggling. I have tried to search what foods to eat but I am not finding anything really useful. I am getting very frustrated and I am tired of being in pain so frequently.

i'm so sorry that you are not feeling better. i might not be much help since i still have my gallbladder with stones in it but it wont hurt to share my gut feeling with you just in case it might be helpful.
stay away from all grains (organic or not, wheat or whatever), sugar, alcohol, soy, canola . start drinking milk thistle tea, dandelion and burdock tea. drink half of your weight in water. eat fresh beets daily. take a good quality probiotic. take vitamin d3 WITH vitamin k2. drink /eat turmeric. and you must, must, must take a digestive enzyme that has ox bile 20 minutes before you eat your meals for the rest of your life to help your digestive system break fats and absorb fat soluble vitamins a, k, d, e... . if you dont take the bile salts/ox bile enzyme you will eventually run low on those and you do not want that. eat healthy fats like coconut oil or avocado oil in small portions and slowly increase as you notice you are able to handle it.
also... look into andrea moritz for liver flushing since that is the root of our gallbladder issues. our livers are congested and we need to heal that organ if not another digestive health issue is just around the corner.
hopes this helps you get started on a better path to healing.

all these issues ur having are normal mines went away but my problem is even after 1 year post is when i eat something i shouldnt have eat i get these issues are when am stress, the tiredness does go away, alot of mine issues didnt start getting better until 4-6 months mark and i still deal with problem that i feel is here permanently. i also develop IBS before removal, my advise too u is be patient and eat smaller meals but frequently, low fat, ur body needs to adjust and it needs to know what u can tolerate, also keep a food diary. also remember your body is different, i had to learn that as well

its a tough surgery and takes awhile to heal. adjusting to foods after gallbladder is removed takes time. the gallbladder breaks up fatty foods. without it there are no enzymes to break down fatty foods. it helped me to get the good bacteria in my gut balanced with eating yogurt really helped. it also was impossible to eat any junk food or any prepared food. i stayed with the diet recommended by my doctor and slowly began to regain a healthy eating routine and in time adjusting to foods that i could or could not eat. sending healing blessings your way.

You should not be working at all. You need to rest for about a month to 2 months before working. The only way to get well is to help your body heal. This is called rest. This is so important. iI cannot stress this enough. Even though you feel ok to work your body is saying No. You need to be home and learn how to eat correctly. I wonder what you are eating at work? Diet is what will change from pain and other issues you have. Good Luck and I will pray for you to have better and happier days.

Reading your post reminded me of how far i've come. Everyone is different. Your body has gone through so much and it takes time to adjust . i too had total loss of appetite following open surgery almost three years ago. I'd really fancy something but when i sat down to eat, i just couldn't. I'd never experienced that before. BRATTS may help: eat bananas, rice, apple puree, tea and toast for a couple of days to give your digestive system a rest. Avoid fatty foods (it took me months to reintroduce these). Avoid spicy foods. Drink plenty water. Gradually increase fiber in your diet to soak up any excess bile. Ensure you get some gentle exercise such as walking but also rest as much as possible and don't lift . Listen to your body. Maybe you went back to work too soon? Have you spoken to your GP? He may be sympathetic and give you a sick note.

I had my gallbladder removed 4 weeks ago. I am experiencing depression, anxiety, fatigue, nausea, dizziness, and horrible abdominal pains. I took 3 weeks off from work to recover. I feel terrible. I also am having breathing issues. I just want this to be over. I had bloodwork done which came back normal. I have an ultrasound and am mri scheduled. I have no appetite and can hardly sleep. I dont see any relief in sight. I just want to sleep all the time but I have to work. the pain and nausea are the worst.

hi there... i'm so sorry that you are not feeling better especially after 4 wks post op. i am 6 days post op and can honestly say, so far... i feel better. but the one thing i do take is a super enzyme (NOW brand) prior to eating protein/fatty meal. i try to drink sole (pronounced solay) water everyday... eat papaya and a green apple in the morning. lemon water too. more green vegetables. also, if i were you... i would have my vitamin d blood level checked and if you are low, supplement ASAP with a high quality brand that has vitamin k also. do some reading on low vitamin d symptoms.
hope this helps and hope you feel better soon.
