I have been suffering with gallstone in neck of gallbladder for a while now and been in lots of painAnd having nausea, been off work now for 3 weeks due to how I feel. I went to see surgeon who advised gallbladder removal via lap Chloe he states he has put me down as urgent. I go for my pre op on tues 5/11 but not sure of op date. Could anyone tell me how long op was for them following pre op ? According to the info they gave me pre op is normally 2-3 weeks prior to op all info will be appreciated thanks

I had mine removed a week or two after my pre-op.

I was in the operating theatre 3-4 hours. In hospital one night, discharged the following night.

Should have been off work for 2-3 weeks as I was recovering from a 2 year miss-diagnosis (dyskinesia, not stones). I was off work about 2 months - due to works occupation health, nothing to do with the operation. I was completely healed - scars and all, after about 4-6 weeks! Hope this helps xxx

Well I had my pre op yesterday and was still not given a op date but was advised to contact the surgeons secretary. I telephoned today and was told if I had another surgeon I could be booked in for 28th which I accepted, feeling nervous now and hope this surgeon is good!

Phone the secretary and ask for his facts and figures on the cholecystectomy procedures he's done. They legally have to tell you I believe. They always wouldn't suggest a different surgeon if he wasn't reputable! Hope the op goes well! Please update once recovered to let us know how you're getting on xxx

    Hi laura

I have sod type 3 so they wont do anything for me, I have found consultants quite useless. Most of the info I have got from internet.Did you find that it was hard to convince them that something else was wrong.I see on your blog that you've had a lot done. Have you found releif from this awful condition.I only glaced at blog so will read it properly now.

    Hi laura

Mine is nowhere near as bad as yours, I have constant pain,(that excruciating one) pressure and tightning of the RUQ.and nausea but not vomiting. I also have oesphagotis and diverticular disease so this doesn't help sphincter oddi. I get so angry and frustrated at thes doctors, they diagnose the condition and then dont believe us.How crazy is that. I too have panic attacks because of it and year before last I went to A&E and I was also tachicardic.I was in all day then they discharged me and I have just been left to it. I have seen two consultants but now I am just feel to intimidated to see another one, as they just dont take it seriously.

Hi, Can anyone tell me how long they waited from pre op to surgery. I had my pre op 3weeks ago, but as yet no word re surgery. I have a flat gallbladder (not sure what that means) with multiple mobile gallstones. Thanks Linz

    Hi Laura

I had my gallbladder removed about 8 yrs ago now, and ever since I have been suffering from IBS and only recently have I noticed a connection with taking codeine. So I decided to do some research and came across your post. I get stabbing like pain just below my breast which goes straight through to my back causing pain, it is so bad I am doubled over in pain with and causes me to be sick. I don't ever recall this happening before I had my gallbladder out when having taken codeine, and I can describe the pain as being the same pain I had from my gallbladder. I have also noticed slight pain which is similiar but no way near as bad from drinking alcohol, but it doesnt happen every time. Just glad to know im not the only one suffering from this and that I finally know what it is.
