Gallbladder removal recovery time

Posted , 4 users are following.

Hi

i am having my gallbladder removed on 15 Sept, hopefully via keyhole surgery.

My question is how long should I have off work? I'm a nurse and work in a GP surgery, and it can get very very busy.....

Thank you

Hard to answer that! Everyone different, but for me, I would say 10 days to two weeks. But some people take longer to heal.

I'm on my 4th day. Feeling better each day. The biggest issue is soreness right in the abdomen. Not suppose to lift anything for about 10 days. It's hard just to get up and down from sitting or laying for me still but I see improvement everyday. I would say ATLEAST a week. I've read a lot of horror stories on here and want you to know do not read them as the ones of us that come through great don't usually come to these boards. Had my first burger today. :-) good blessings
