Gallbladder removed 2 weeks ago, nausea since?! Help!

Hi, had gallbladder op 2 weeks ago and still nauseous constantly and no appetite at all. Forcing myself to eat 2 biscuits every couple of hours but nausea is dreadful. Pain has gone except mild aches / soreness from op itself. Is this normal 2 weeks on? Had endoscopy before op and also have small hiatus hernia and bile reflux. The nausea is as bad now as the 5 months prior to surgery. Taking antisickness drugs daily but not helping much. Any advice welcome please, thank you, Rebecca x

Thanks for your reply. Sorry to hear that you're suffering too. I'm on antisickness drugs but they don't seem to help with the nausea. I have no appetite at all but making an effort to have dry biscuits, crackers, cuppa soups every few hours which is difficult when you feel so sick. I've lost 3 stones in weight and was hoping the nausea would vanish after surgery. Any idea how long it's likely to last as at the moment I'm wishing I hadn't put myself through the operation as the nausea is as bad now as prior to op! Would anything that cause chronic nausea? Thanks, hope you feel better soon x

The reflux will make you sick and nauseous not want to eat, I understand your frustration I had hoped my condition would improve as well. Not to get too personal but if your bowels aren't moving it will add to your nausea as well miralax and a stool softner will help. Also you may want to see your gi dr and ask them to run some tests maybe you have an ulcer or bacteria infection or something along those lines if the nausea meds your taking orally aren't helping you may need it in suppository version to bypass your stomach. I still vomit every few days my nausea gets so bad and the food doesn't agree with me. I hope you get some relief soon I'm truly sorry for anyone going through this. It's not an easy road. Best of luck!!

I've got Lactulose here to take as due to the pain meds I was constipated and obviously not eating much too doesn't help. I haven't actually been sick, just feel it constantly. I also take Omeprazole daily for the symptoms of reflux. I had an endoscopy before surgery which revealed the small hiatus hernia but tests proved negative for the H-Pylori infection. I'm due to see my GI surgeon on 9th Dec and really hope the nausea has gone by then! I'm tired and miserable but mainly due to the nausea making me feel like that. Thanks for your help and advice x

Rebecca do a low fat diet. Skim milk. But sounds like you need to drink water and have jello for awhile first. Sorry the meds are not helping. I lost mine on the 11. I only got nasuea once when I tried ritz crackers. So I just had jello for a few days and water. Then we added mash potatoes. No butter. Use margane. I hope this helps. I can eat fish, turkey, chicken, vegatable, and noodles know.

Hi, I'm not eating very much at all at the moment as feel so sick and no appetite. But what I am managing to eat are low fat cuppa soups, dry crackers, bananas, jellies and dry cereals and only drinking water over the last 2 weeks. Did you have your op on 11th Nov? I was hoping the results would be quicker than this. I've lost so my h weight. Many thanks for your advice x

Yes I had my surgery done on Nov. 11. I really couldn't eat for a few days except jello and water. Have you talked to your doctor on how you are feeling? Everybody is different and for me it was a real surprise that I never got sick to my stomach. It takes time. Today was the first day I got out of the house with my husband and boy just walk to the car was nice. We went to walmart and winco and I was very tired afterwards and had some pain. I have my good days were the ain light and bad days when it really hurts. I also hear it depends the way they take the gall bladder out. If jello r low fat broth isn't helping check with your doctor. Keep me updated. Sorry you're having a hard time. Your welcome. Hang in there.

Could it be the pain medicine that is making you nasues? I know most pain killers with codine making me throw up. I'm taking hydrocodone and it doesn't make me sick.
