gambepentin and stomache problems

i have posted here a few times about taking 100 mg of gambentin for just 4 days..and had to stop due to serious side effects..which a month later i am still having....after stopping..one big issue is my tummy...aches when its empty aches when i eat its very weird and upper chest pain...that i have to ice all the time...is anyone else having lasting tummy problems, face pain headaches its been a month and i am still suffering after taking 4 bloody pills !!!!!

Wish I could help you Brenda. I've been taking 300mg , 2 a day for about a month. I have a stomache ache also. But my stomach hurt before I started taking them. Soooo ! I'm also taking Minocycline for a respiratory infection. So I don't know which is making my dtomach hurt. I'm pretty sure someone with some experience with Gabapentin will see this and give you an answer. Hope you get better soon.

Hi Brenda I stopped 6 months ago and I still suffer tummie pains they are getting better i was on 900mg a day for a year had terrible trouble getting off . feeling sick when I eat and when I don't it does get better over time.I also had numbness on my face aspecialy round my lips headaches do faid too I'm left with anxiety 😕😕

Sorry to hear you are still struggling. I have reflux and gastroparesis. I don't think the gabapentin would cause those issues. The pain with an empty stomach could be reflux or an ulcer, both easily detected with an upper GI. When you get the pain, try a Zantac and see if that helps or gaviscon. Both are over the counter meds. If they help you should ask for an upper GI. That could also explain your upper chest pain. This may sound like a strange question, but how are you bowels?
I too am still struggling with withdrawal. I have been at 100mg for 8 weeks now and the itchy/ prickly feeling in my arms and face is still horrible. As well, I still wake up every morning and have waves and waves of heat and burning in my arms and face which lasts for a couple of hours. This drug is horrible stuff to come off of. Right now I don't see any relief in sight.

he sort of shrugged it off and said your tests were fine...now i have a severe pain in the middle of my chest and i have sleep apnea so when i put the mask on to sleep it aches in my chest...saw my doc he said your tests have shown nothing...and sort os dismissed me and said do not go back to emerg for 6 months
(been there alot) well if i am in that much pain i am going back something is wrong and or i need a shot of the only thing that works is a shot of anti inflammatory med called torordol as i cant take it my pill form.....honestly
i have tried everything..the pain in the middle of my chest is freaking me out right now as it hurts to breath...went to emerg last week did the full heart check thing and nothing....so they said it is not serious it is nerves and muscles and they cant really fix that...

That is strange. There is no exact science and when everything comes back ok, the Doctors ASSUME there is nothing wrong. I have been having a horrible headache that is continuous which is why I was put on gabapentin. All the tests they gave me were normal so they say nothing is wrong but there is something definitely wrong in my head. No pain killers work and the only drug that helps gives me horrible side effects and even then it doesn't totally get rid of the pain and pressure in my head. This has been over 2 years and still no answers so I totally get where you are coming from. I keep telling myself I just have to find the right doctor who will listen to me and believe me when I tell them how I am feeling.
I feel your pain just not in the same area.
I hope you get some relief soon. Keep me posted

it is frustrating isnt it...finally my doc suggested i go see a physcologist.....at first i was a bit upset but he said she counsels people with chronic pain and so i went and she was fabulous...got alot of frustration out and she said you know docs can only fix what they see visually or what shows up on a test and if it isnt there they dont know how to deal with chronic pain.....so dont give up...as her mom had such bad arthritis in her kneww she wound up in a wheel chair and then went from doc to doc to doc.....and finally found an orthopedic surgeon who said did you try this new form of coritsone called sigvis they said no he injected her and now after 3 years is walking again...so it was great to have someone to vent to....i am having headaches from the gambentin still and they got worse this week (been off them for over a month) and i did some reasearch and found some interesting articles on Large Cell arterioritis..something like that or temporal arterities or hortons disease and it is quite common in people with polymalgia or fibromyalgia.....so going to see my doc next week and ask him since i have firbromyalgia is this now going on ?...i keep researching...lord knows they dont seem to have an answer

I do see a mental health councillor and did a pain clinic with not much help but am trying to hang in there
The fuzzy tingly feeling in my arms and face is worse and it makes my headache even worse
At a loss of what do do
Most people have no idea how hard it is to just get through the day
Most days I can't wait for night to come so I can sleep and get a break from it all

I've had responses held by the moderator before and never could figure out why. And you probably won't find out why either. I've followed ya'lls conversation from the first. I still have no answers but I keep looking and reading. Just in case sombody comes up with something. So good luck on finding out whats going on. I hope for the best to you.
