Gas when eating cooked cruciferous vegetables

Posted , 2 users are following.

I get gas when I eat cooked broccoli, cabbage and cauliflower, and this has been happening ever since I was a child. I don't get gas if I eat these foods raw. What is the cause of this and how do I stop it? When I google this question, all I can see online is to cook vegetables before eating because this helps with digestion 😦

Thanks!

When you cook these vegetables you are starting the cellulose breaking down process so it gets into your bowel in an ideal state to ferment and you get gassy. When they are eaten raw the process doesnt have enough time to start and ferment before it is passed out of your system so very little gas.

The foods you have mentioned are the ones most likely to produce gas. Try eating other types of veg. Do a little experimentation and see which ones suit you.You dont have to cook veg if you like them raw.
