Gases and Acidity in my mum's tummy

Hello, everyone.

My mother is 70 years old and she is diabetic and has lymphoma cancer. Back in September 2022, she fell and broke her femur bone. She had successful surgery and is now recovering slowly. Because she cant walk, she has digestive issues - she remains in bed all day and complains of gases and acidity in her stomach. We started giving her Esso 40mg (Esomeprazole) twice per day and that helped. Recently, a doctor said one dose per day of Esomeprazole is enough. Now, she has started complaining of gaseous issues again.

My question is, that a) is it safe that she is taking Esomeprazole 40mg daily since September 2022 (its been almost 7 months)

and b) can Esomeprazole be taken twice daily ?

Thank you
