    Hey...

Well done on your losses so far.

I haven't got any experience regarding gastric surgery & the balloon, I'd just love to have a balloon fitted & to more easily lose weight then keep it off.

I have bipolar disorder & my weight makes me very unhappy & isolate myself. Being overweight drains my confidence & self esteem & prevents me living my life which is ridiculous, but true!

Its been suggested that I try to get the surgery on the NHS, however I'm not sure that'd be an option, my BMI is 32, I'm 5-7, roughly 14s & a size 16.

My physical health isn't as effected as my psychological health, which is really hampered by my poor body image.

My opinion regarding the use of the NHS, is that there are more needy people than me, I just worry about the lengths I'll go to in order to fulfil my weight loss desires via having a balloon fitted.

    I don't think I'd be considered anyway.

    Good luck to you.

Hi Scottie, I get my balloon done on the 20th June, but paying privately. I realise this isn't an option for everyone, but I would push with the NHS. A recent guest on our local radio station, who worked in the NHS, stated that if these gastric operations were more readily available on the NHS they would save an absolute fortune in the long run by not having to pay for treatment, (which sometimes stays for the rest of your life) of illnesses like Diabetes, Cancers and multipal joint operations that can occur because of carrying excess weight.  I would push forward with your doctor pointing out these reasons, and if he is a good doctor should put you forward for the procedure. Good luck, Munk

    Hi,

I was referred for gastric band on the NHS but the process was 3 years and you aren't guaranteed a band at the end of this time.

Since then I have paid privately and had a gastric band fitted October last year x
