Gastric Band - 11 days post-op.

Hi guys,

I had my op on 27/3/15 and everything went well. I'm sticking to the liquid diet (for 2 weeks), clear soups, Muller light yoghurts and ASDA crispbreads.

I'm worried as I've not been to the toilet for 7 days and I wonder if anybody else has had this problem?...please help confused

Hi it took me around 5-6 days to go !! I was given lactulose by the hospital and had to take 15ml twice daily, I did increase this to 20 after a few days of no action!! Lots perps advised benefibre too so I added that and hey presto!!!! It's tricky as some of the painkillers (codeine esp) can make u constipated, as can lack of fibre in diet and fluid.

I'm gonna keep using the benefibre to keep things moving!!

Ps my band op was on 25th so we're practically at same stage! I've progressed to solids now (it's like weaning a baby!!!)

    Good luck x

No, It didn't ! I was given infacol by the hospital but didn't find that particularly helpful either!! I think I got off quite lightly with wind, was painful for 1st few days but reasonably manageable. Specialist Nurse at the hospital recommended peppermint tea or sweets/lozenges (?)

Lucky you! I'll keep on drinking the peppermint tea. It seems to be easing with each day though. I haven't heard of the sweets thing...what kind of sweets did they suggest?

I start on 'sloppy' food on saturday. Any ideas?
