Gastric band

Hello all, I'm new to this so bare with me!

I'm 20 years old and I am extremely interested in having a gastric band fitted possibly with The Hospital Group.

I was just wondering about other peoples experiences, I haven't yet had a consultation but I have though about this for a few months and I'm now taking the steps to get started.

How long did it take from your first consultation until you had your operation?

If you used a finance plan how was this dealt with? As I am 20 my credit rating is low due to not having any credit cards or loans all I have is a phone contract in my name so I'm not sure if I'll be accepted.

Thank you you in advance for any answers and good luck with your journeys smile

hi charley - i went privately for my band op but not with the hosp group - i waited 2 mths from initial appt to getting my op - might have been a bit quicker but i hit the summer holidays and the consultant had 2 wks off in the middle of this - i did not use a finance plan but it might pay you to shop around as the hosp might not necessarily give you the best rate - do as much research before you get you first appt andmake a list of questions you want answreing - one very important question is to ask what their aftercare service includes - you will need several fills over the crs of 1 to 2 yrs to get you that ultimate level of restriction and you need to know if these are included and if not how m uch do they cost then that way there will be no surprise bills for aftercare if you know in advance what to expect - a port group would be a good place to get some additional info or somewhere like WLSinfo is also good for research purposes - good luck and remember the band is not a magic wand but a tool to help you lose wgt and you have to work with it and make good food choices

I had my gastric band fitted with at The Hospital group last month and from consultation to surgery was 3 weeks. I feel this was due to the fact that I paid for it there and then. I did actually have a my choice of getting it done the following week but needed a it longer so I could get head around the fact that my life was going to change and have my last Mcdonalds too!!
