    Hi Shelley!

I had my band on 24th October and don't regret it a single bit, infact it's gone so quickly!!

At the start it was quite painful but everyday got easier after day 3 I would say!

I was so nervous that I nearly pulled out on the day but I'm so glad I didn't!!

There are quite a few of us on here who  sure would be happy to help you!

    Xx

Thanks I guess my fears are acceptable then? Glad your doing well, is the pre diet really important?

Yes of course, it is a big operation (more life changing wise rather than the operation!)

Yes the pre op diet is so important! It can be really risky if you don't follow it, they also can tell because of your weight loss whether you've followed it enough. My surgeon said he could tell I had stuck to it as my liver looked healthy. He also said that his last patient was cancelled as they didn't stick to it, she was asleep and they went in and said that her liver made the operation too risky as the pre op diet shrinks your liver in order for them to hold it out of the way during surgery!

What pre op diet have you been given? When do you have to start? X

      Hi

They haven't given me one yet I know they said a liquid one for a few days before the operation but now I'm thinking that I need to be the one who steps things up I'm thinking it's all a little but too laid back? Maybe I should re arrange as we do have Xmas in the middle of all this? What do you think? I want it to be a success?

When was your consultation and how much do you aim to lose?

If it was me I would keep your date, you could put it off all the time because of Christmas and birthdays etc!

Plus your date is like 10 days after Christmas!

You've got to decide what's more important to you. The sooner you start the sooner the weight will come off!

      X

Hi I'm just having the same conversation with my hubby smile I'm gonna go for it my bmi is 33 I want to loose between 4 n 5 stone I will do juice plus for the week running up to Christmas try and do Atkins type thing Xmas day and then back on juice plus till new year n then have new year off  with Atkins type approach again then back on juice plus till the op what do you think? My consultant said 5 days of pre op would be fine but now I'm worrying? I'm going to try and get hold if the dietician tomorrow sad don't know what I would of done if I hadn't found this forum thank you smile

Did your consultant say to do juice plus?

For example I was only allowed to drink milk for 2 weeks, no food at all!

I think if he just said 5 days then I wouldn't make yourself suffer for any longer! It's hard going and you want it to be a success and not be tempted! I would enjoy Christmas but make sure you start for the 5 days!

Just keep your eye on the prize!

      You won't regret it I don't think.

Yes the forums definitely helped me through it! So any questions I will help if I can xx
