Hey guys so I'm new to this and would appreciate some help and info.. I'm 28 years old and I'm having my gastric band at end of this month for many different reasons..

I'm just curious to how everyone is after pre op? I'm scared but very excited because I know it's a new chapter and something new in my life, I read a lot of bad comments about the band but it be nice to hear some of your personal stories and journeys..

Please be kind enough to share ?

    Hiya Amy

I had my gastric band last Friday so I am nearly a week post op. All has gone well so far. I have had no nausea, no vomiting, still on liquid diet for another weeks and I'm having around 6 200ml lots of 'food' such as soup, slim fast and smoothies. I have had very little pain, it is more like a deep aChe in your stomach muscles so the first few days are uncomfortable moving around.

Pre op wise I was on a low carbon low calorie diet for 3 weeks and lost a stone. Before the op I had bloods taken, an ecg and filled in some admission paperwork, it's all pretty straightforward, nothing to worry about.

I know what you mean about the negative reviews about the band. I think though that so long as I do all I can to work with the band, then if anything goes wrong it is not down to me, and I have given it a good go at trying to do something about my weight.

I'm sure everything will be fine :D

Hi Amy, I'm 8 days post op and the everything is going well. If you had your gall bladder removed via keyhole then really your prepared for the feeling of being full of gas and very bloated. That's the most uncomfortable bit really. The difference between day 5 and day 7 is huge. There wasn't much pain as such, more an uncomfortable, tugging and pulling. My biggest problem is being able to lay flat. I'm still sleeping on my recliner sofa which is annoying. But I'm excited about the future and seeing the results. Good luck with your op xx
