Gastric band- pain in chest

Posted , 3 users are following.

Hey guys!

I went on holiday to morocco for 5 days (3.5 hr flight).

Since the flight my band has felt very tight. 4 days into the holiday I got a really saw chest, it's got really saw and my breathing is slightly wheezy.

I rang my weight loss support and they have booked me in for tomorrow but Ive been reading all sorts about it being a sign of a slippage. I'm absolutely terrified it's a slippage!!!

Has anyone had problems with tight chests?

Many thanks in advance

Hey every time i fly i find my band tightens i wouldn say it would cause a slippage. In my experience i end up with chest infections with the air con and germs flying about everywere. I refuse to read those sites anymore online as they also make me feel worse. I would try and relax til ur appointment and good luck 👍

Thank you so much for replying. I've spoken to weight loss support again this evening and they have also reassured me that it's usually a sign that I'm over restricted. So looking forward to having some fluid out tomorrow.

Yes I think your right about researching things on the net, just makes me panic!!

      Thanks again!

HI - i have flown many times including long haul to USA and never been affected but i have heard of people who have and you have done the right thing getting in touch with your bariatric team and getting an appt so try not to worry cos it might well be that you just need a slight defill cos if the area where your band is has been aggravated it might just be a bit of swelling and a defill will allow for this to return to normal - it might make things easier if you stick with sloppy or liquid foods til you get your appt and therefore not irritate the area further - good luck and hope all goes well for you soon
