Gastric Band to Gastric Sleeve?

Hi, I had a gastric band procedure (weight 22st) by NHS in 2004. In the first few months I had three ban adjustments and despite feeling hungry most of the time and limited restriction, I managed to lose around 6 stone in first year because I was so embarassed not too. When I finally admitted defeat with band I wrote to NHS for help but despite phone calls and a letter to surgeon I got no further appointments and have been stuck between 16-18st over last 12 years. I am so fed up being the fat person in the family and recently decided to travel outside UK to have a Gastric Sleeve fitted. My surgery is next week and is really my last hope. Has anyone else had revision surgery and did they finally lose weight and become "normal weight range".  Thanks

I had band 9yrs ago and has been monumental fail, so I am going down route off a by pass as I think this will curb my hunger better and less being sick with food stuck all time, that's the main reasons I am going for by pass this time instead off sleeve . Hope all goes well for you

NHS really let me down too. I am going to a private clinic for my sleeve. I have been advised as it is revsion surgery, it is a safer option for me.  The sleeves means I live without the restricton of the band (that I hate) or the dumping effect that can happen with a bypass.  I am so excited about getting my life back and yeah being sick is the worst. THe NHS should really stop offering the band as it does not work!! I wish you luck with your surgery too. This feels like my last chance to get it right, I so want to be a normal size xx
