Hello everyone, I'm a 42 year old female and I'm having a gastric bypass on Wednesday 8th April 2015 and I'm hoping to find people who are also about to have or have recently had surgery, it would be lovely to be able to compare and share experiences x

Everything has gone well for me and I'm now 5 stone lighter! Everyone's experience is different, my advice is to take things slowly and follow the advice of your bariatric team.
I hope all goes well for you, take care and I will look forward to hearing of your progress.

i had my bypass last Monday 30th Mar. The op went really well and can't fault the care I had. I came home on Tues as I felt well and really didn't want to stay in. Little pain but I think that was mostly wind. I was ok Tues a it worse wed, pain discomfort and a bit teary. I was also starving and wanted to stab my other half who was eating bacon sandwiches and pizza etc! Thursday was by far my worse day!! Tremendous pain with wind, very down and emotional it was the first time I had a poo for 5days and that was quite an experience I can tell you!! At that point I was thinking what the hell have I done! However, Friday I felt 200% better. No pain the wind had dyed down stomach not so swollen and felt better in myself

so yes Friday was much better but still felt hungry! Sat was better again and I am continuing to improve daily. I am laughing now so my better half says "I've come back to him". Although he bought chocolate yesterday so wanted to stab him again!! I have been assured by a friend who had it 2 yrs ago that very soon I will lose the hunger thing which I certainly hope so! You can drink quite a lot which I was pleased about as I do drink a lot of water. It the fear of the unknown I think. However I'm kinda gett the feeling that your body will guide you and to listen to what it is say to you. I can't quite explain it differently. Anyway Inwish you all the best , please don't worry about the op because these people are used to doing this and they will take great care of you. I am not gonna lie the first 5 days are hard but try to focus on the fact that they will pass! If you want to sleep do so whatever time of day and take things slowly! I was lucky as I had no nausea or sickness but was extremely dizzy and still am a little if I move too fast. If you have medicines to take and are crushing them then the best way I have found is to crush your meds then break the lansoprazole capsule into it take a mouthful of water or squash and pour the crushed mixture in to your mouth dry and swallow. It tastes the best that way!!! I can't think of much more at the mo but if you have any questions or worrys or just something you want to ask then please do so. Good luck again for wed and remember its only for a few days and I promise it passes Kirsty xxx
