Gastritis? Acid reflux? I don't know anymore

So I was here on the forum 2 and a half weeks ago when I had burning sensation in my stomach due to food poisoning. So I went to the doctor during that time in which she diagnosed me with Acute Gastroenteritis and gave me Famotidine which I only took twice and could not take it anymore because I had side effects. I panicked, I cried, I never had this problem before in my life and I still don't know the overall seriousness of what I have and what could happen. So I decided to take a vacation and stay at my partners place for 2 and a half weeks in which I ate only bland food such as plain boiled chicken, broccoli, carrots, and potato with rice and chicken broth from boiling the chicken. I ate this for dinner and for lunch/breakfast I only had a spinach and turkey sandwich with cheese and light mayo on white bread. I had no hope as to when my stomach acids would stop but eventually, everything did get better. My stools were better, I had no acids, no aches or pains, and I was happy. I could even eat a burger and different stuff and I would be fine over there. It was only until I left my partners place I started having the same symptoms again but it's less acid and more lower right quadrant pain but I had my appendix removed already a year ago. The acids do come more at night than during the day. I feel bloated and full all the time and I have noticed that if I do get acid in my stomach then I'd feel something in my throat which I panicked over but eventually went away as well when I was over at my partners place. Anyways, my symptoms returned when I came back to my home and I decided to use Listerine mouthwash, I don't know why i decided to use that out of the blue because I have hardly ever used it but I did, and went to bed and I had stomach cramps like crazy and now the 4th day since that incident I feel full and bloated, pain on my lower right quad, I have been poking and pressing so that might cause the persistent pain I mainly get the acids when I lay down. And I poop once a day. So I went to the doctor today, never seen the guy before but the previous one I saw for my first encounter of this problem was great, very informative and took the time to listen and answer questions, this doctor however just brushed off everything I told him and just said I had acid reflux and that I needed to start taking the medicine Omeprazole, Said that patients who had this didn't have the problem anymore after taking the medication for two weeks. That appointment literally lasted only 5 minutes whereas the other doctor took 45 minutes and the big difference? The 45 minute one cared! I'm only 23 (male) by the way and I just don't know what to do anymore, stick with the bland diet and take the medication? Or just stick with the bland diet with no medication and hope I recover like the last time? I'm terrified of taking the medicine and I hear people don't recover or those medications don't do much for them so why should I take them? Can ingesting a tiny bit of Listerine cause this? Because I had terrible stomach cramps after I had Listerine and all my other symptoms came back, and do not ask me to go see that doctor again because I can't and he would just ask me if I took the Omeprazole and then leave. Are there alternative natural remedies to help me?

I have a lot of you symptoms, not all of them but some very similar. I was diagnosed with gastritis and GERD via endoscopy. Have they done an endoscopy for you yet? Because once you get a firm diagnosis you’ll be able to research your diagnosis and be able to heal yourself that way.

I would have gotten an endoscopy if they didn't make me choose between two doctors I knew nothing about. So that is out of the question.

I would push for a referral to a gastroenterologist and then they will do an endoscopy. I’m in the US so things here are a lot easier when it comes to getting procedures done as long as you can pay.

I too am in the US but asking for a referral also depends on the personality of your doctor. And the one I had today brushed off all my concerns, which means, he is dead set on me taking the medication for two weeks which I don't want to do. So asking for a referral wouldn't work sadly.

Yea I agree with Suzanne just wait a week or so say you’ve taken it and your symptoms are getting worse then he’ll have to refer you.

I already filled out a form requesting to change doctors within the clinic. There are several doctors in that clinic from M.D's to F.N.P's to Family Doctors. So once I change that, I have a physical I have to go to on the 11th where I would just bring it up again, to a doctor I have never seen before but anything is better than having that doctor from today.

Yes stop the meds. You could be taking those for no reason. Until you get to a GI specialist he will set you on the right course. Stay on a fat free diet at least every other day. Not too much fats. Eat smaller meals try not to get too full. Also I would suggest organic apple cider vinegar to cleanse you digestive track. Drink a teaspoon of acv every morning. This will help you.
