Hi. Has anyone developed severe gastritis after gallbladder removal? If so, what treatment have you done for it, what symptoms did you have and how long did it take for you to get rid of it or feel better?

7 months after surgery. Sick as a dog. Lost 15 lbs. Pain, nausea, bloating out of this world. Have to get endoscopy end of Dec. I wouldn't wish this on the devil himself.

Now using Aciphex. Eating tiny meals every 2 hours. Carafate only helped a little but caused too many side effects. Have had the horrible gas and bloating so bad. Made me cry all the time. Wound up in ER as I could not eat or even drink any water for 2 months

If I go over 2 hours without food now I am in agony. Gnawing pain is the worst.

I hope you feel better soon Audrey! I am in constant pain under my ribs and it goes across my abdomen. It can get severe. Did you have constant pain like that? Yes it is the worst. Was the ER able to help at all?

It started right under and across the ribs. Very painful. Yes this went on for weeks. Tucked up under the middle of the ribs is the stomach and when that started it knocked me to my knees.

I would get a hollow gripping pain to gnawing. The gas was never ending. Gurgling, rumbling, bloating and sick, nauseous, indigestion, sometimes cramps. Stomach and intestines swelled up and hard to the point that I couldn't even touch it. I couldn't eat or drink anything after a few weeks so went to ER. They did a CT scan of abdomen and found nothing. Prescribed Carafate which only helpef a little with nausea and some pain until 3 hours after a meal and the gas would build up and pain again would be unbearable.

I was sent to a GI doc and put back on Aciphex. The best help is Tums, eating tiny meals every 2 hours religiously.

The worst part of the day was between 4-7 pm. I could no longer eat potatoes though because that added more gas so now I only eat rice, carrots, chicken or turkey breast ( no additives). I only sip water. On scale of 1-10 it started ouy 10 but now down to 7 unless I don't eat on time then goes to 8 or 9. This has been going on since Mid September.

Next is endoscopy end of December.

Thank you for the well wishes.

All I could was to beg God to take me in my sleep. I had enough pain.

Keep me informed of how you are doing. I hope it doesn't get too bad with you. Have you been diagnosed with gastritis or ulcers? Have you got ibs too plus the gallbladder surgery?

You've really suffered a lot. 😦 I pray you are better soon, that would be very difficult to live like that. My heart goes out to you. I had my gallbladder out 3 1/2 months ago and have been really sick since then with nausea, loss if appetite, sicker after I eat, headaches, I've lost 25 lbs, all sorts of pains but this constant pain under my ribs and in my upper abdomen is different. Its super bad. I haven't been diagnosed with gastritis or if its ulcers, which it was discovered after my gallbladder removal that I had ulcers and was treated for them. They were very painful. I don't have ibs that I know of. This new pain that won't go away is worrying me and its very painful. I can't get in to see a GI doctor until next week. Its sad when you are suffering so bad but you have to wait for help. It's honestly been a nightmare since having my gallbladder removed and I wish I never had it out. All I had was sludge in the gallbladder and I don't think it was my gallbladder causing me to feel sick, it was the ulcers I had. It's just been a nightmare.

I feel badly for you as I certainly understand your pains. Did they mention Gerd? Reflux seems to act up in quite a few people months after gallbladder surgery. Along with that is ulcers and gastritis. The scariest part is once this cycle starts it can return. All I know is I will not last much longer if this doesn't let up soon. I only weigh 105 now.

      What is your next test?

Oh Audrey, I'm so sorry. I'm praying it will let up soon for you. 😦 You've got to keep hanging on. What does your doctor say it is? Do you have all those things gastritis, ibs, etc? Nothing has been mentioned to me of what it is. My previous GI was no help. They said we don't know what's wrong with you with out doing any further tests or trying to dig deeper on what the issue is. I would leave their office feeling bad and that I couldn't be helped. This was after I told them of this new pain. I know there are other things they could check for like gastritis, ulcers, GERD, etc. Maybe do an endoscopy. Today I called a new GI office and was able to get in this Wednesday with a new doctor. Praying he can help or at least have some suggestion of what is causing all this. I weigh 120 lbs now.

I pray they find an answer and it woll be okay. Are you meaning the rib pain? Mine started with the rib pain and lasted for weeks before it went into my upper stomach. Much of the traveling pain is from gas build up and the inflammation, distention from it. Some is from acid and possibly bile back up. The endoscopy can shed light on the source of the problem or problems.

I know I must have it done but I can never move my bowels for a week due to sedative and anesthesia. I am scared of getting any sicker. Feels like my bowels are going to rupture..

I pray they find some answers for you after the endoscopy and you won't have issues with the procedure. I am feeling worse every day. I've been really sick every since my surgery and now I'm worse. Have you been sick since right after your surgery or did all of it start in September? I pray this goes away and our bodies can adjust and regulate themselves. This is no way to live. Please keep me posted on what your doctor says and after your endoscopy.

I thought my ibs was going into a flare fairly soon after surgery. I had bouts of diarrhea and going poo more often than normal for my ibs so that got me suspicious. Had several stomach bugs which kind of masked certain symptoms. After the viruses passed I got extremely ill in September. I now think gallbladder surgery issues were creeping. up on me and then all heck broke loose.

sphincter of oddi dysfunction, it can happen to people after gallbladder removal. It is rare though but can make a person sick for awhile until treated

yes I did, terrible, felt like I was dying., went on PPi's for a couple of weeks, drank aloe vera and cabbage juice, both really help, cabbage is a very old healing tool for ulcers and gastritis and it works!!
