Liquorice works for me and you can get it in differnt forms. I suck on liquorice juice sticks.

Thanks for the suggestion. I've been taking licorice tabs, also Pepsin GI and slippery elm. They don't help much. What is really weird is that the Gastritis lasts for about 24 hours with steady pain, then after about 24 hours the pain subsides very quickly on it own and goes away completely for about 24 hours the cycle starts again with the painfull gastritis.

I don't understand the cycle part but I'm glad you're taking liquorice and slippery elm bark. Have you got any allergies that you know of?

I just mean that something must be going into your body that your body doesn't like and cant handle?

You are absolutely correct. Finally I have gotten to the root cause of the gastritis.. I am now absolutely sure that the cause of the gastris is the elimination of toxins.. I am currently doing a throrough detox. The gastritis starts when I am juicing and doing other detoxing. The gastritis seems to stop when I eat meat or a meal with too much fat. I need to allow myself to detox completely and I am pretty sure the gastritis will eventually fade. It painfull but necessary. Thank you for your ideas.

I have a book written by a Naturopath that says that when we're detoxing we can get harsh effects and I've found that to be true. And also a lot of natural health practitioners say that we can take on symptoms from all the illnesses we've had previously, with the most recent first and then through them all in reverse order.

I think it means that we don't need to worry about it because it's our body dealing with it all. I can't say I understand it totally yet but I tend to trust naturopaths.

I'm so glad you're working it out and sticking with it because I'm sure you'll feel the benefits, and you're very brave! razz

That's very interesting! What is the name of the book? This detox is becoming a spirirtual journey... ands it;s very painful at times... I pray for guidance.. I am reavaulating alot of stuff, reliving events in my past. It's pretty intense I guess because I my health had sunk so low.

I also am very much into alternative healing. There is a lot of great info about it out there.

Raw vegetables and fruits can cause painful gastritis and cooked vegetables made into soups, softened that are not cruciferous vegetables, as well as cooked soft fruits are needed to heal the cilon walls before gradually reintroducing raw veg and fruits.

Liquarice is indeed calming.  How's your stress?  Do you eat a lot of sugar, consume alcohol?  Every little bit helps to illiminate whatever the cause is.  Do you take enough vitamine B's?

    What does your doctor say?

Yes to add to Hanny's comment just because the liquorice and slippery elm bark don't seem to be doing anything at the moment sometimes the body takes a while to heal. They're not doing you any harm and they're good for us so keep taking them.

Perhaps try liquorice juice sticks rather than the tabs? And what's Pepsin GI?

I am detoxing my liver and gal badder. I think the gastritis is a result of my general toxic liver and gall bladder. I am very conjested and need to do this before I get a major illness. I'm eating lots of organic vegies, limited good fats, suppliments, no sugar except some fruit. I think detoxing will fix the gastrtis. I really should check out a liver/gallbladder detox discussion.

Gastritis can be caused by raw fruits and vegetables rather than cooked, which are needed to heal the colon ealls before gradually reintroducing raw foods.
